with all sort of problem the iphone had initially, lets hope the storm isnt the same.

 

Ouch!! Yeah....this isn't the phone for me then. Damn that's a lotta money for a phone each month. I have a hard time swallowing the $60 I already pay for voice + 200 texts + VZ Navigator.

 

I went and saw the Storm during lunch. It was alright, but some of the limitations (both by the phone and Verizon) have me thinking maybe the Dare is a better option. If work was subsidizing the phone or service, then I would consider it, but for personal use, it's overkill.

 

I picked mine up today...it's running on the .65 firmware which SHOULD have been AT LEAST .71, if not .82. It's running pretty well, but a little on the slow side. Some units have the .71 where most are on the .65, which I don't understand ? Either way, I'll wait until the new firmwares are released and judge then. But overall it's a great device.

My coworker texted me from a Verizon store and said they were all out of Storms. Didn't say whether or not he got one, though.

I doubt I'll get one, even though it looks cool. It's just too much money each month. Plus my boss will probably expect me to check my work email even though they don't pay for my phone.

My coworker ended up ordering one online, but it will not be here for 2 weeks. He said he called 10 Verizon stores in the area and all of the ran out of Storms.

 

I went to the verizon store to check it out (was only a block away so I figured why not). I went in to check it out and they had 2 display models. Each one had 2 twist ties around the device securing it to the security cable. Thats right, they put 2 wide bands of plastic over the screen, so you couldn't effectively push the screen or really read anything. That's a hell of a shitty way to showcase the product. They also wouldn't let me in with a closed bottle of water. Apple down the street epoxies the security thing on the back.

Plus, another thing. The demo units (most of them) aren't even the .65 firmware, so they are RIDICULOUSLY slow and people are coming off with the wrong impression. Not to mention they all probably have about 5 million programs running in the background.

 

I did the Best Buy pre-order and they actually came through and like Dem1K said I have already had to update the firmware. They should have released it with the most updated software, it fixes little glitches.

 

*sigh* Finally ordered mine today but and they said it would ship on the 11th and take 5-6 business days to arrive. We didnt do it online because I got a promo in the mail saying that once I renewed my contract Verizon would pay for 2 months of my monthly usage charges which is just the minutes plan ($39.99) and supposedly it had to be done over the phone. However when I mock ordered it online that "graduate" coupon code didnt work. Is that only when you trade in a black berry?

 

I got the same promo from Verizon and they honored it even after I got the phone from Best Buy, just call them after your all renewed. The "graduate" coupon is only for the Blackberry tradeup program.

 

Gotcha. How are you liking yours so far?

 

I like it, the updates that are coming out should address the issues I have with the phone.

 

Yeah I saw another thread on here where someone provided a link to a update but however it wasnt a direct update from Verizon. Someone did post that verizon's update should be out today though.

 

*Sigh* So let me start by saying this Storm thing is getting under my skin and pissing me off. Between my GF and I, I've wanted to the storm for like 7-8 months now. She had no interest until it finally came out, ok no problem. Well I've been teased with this thing about 3 times now. First I wasnt able to get it the day released as planned, then we went to a Verizon store waited around for about 20 minutes to be told they were sold out for 2 weeks when the lil greeter girl could've told us that when we first walked in. So the GF orders mine on Nov 29th and then hers on Dec 2nd. Originally they weren't supposed to be shipped until Dec 11th and then arrive for another 5-6 business days. Well as I'm gettin ready to leave for work this past Tuesday her mom hands me a package with the GF's name on it. It said Verizon Wireless so of course I got all giddy well to my amazement after lookin at the receipt it's HER freakin Storm. To clear up any confusion both phone lines are in her name so I knew it was hers by the phone # on the receipt. Already long story short since mine was done through the promotional offer of 2 first months free it took longer for mine to process and wont be here til Tuesday. End rant.
