I'll Be Waiting in line on 11/21 !!
http://estore.vzwshop.com/storm/
There is a verizon store on the way to work, so I can go there early and pick it up.
On the cb site there are talks of pre-orders but I haven't spoken to anyone at a local verizon store to confirm.

They guy at my Verizon store told me 11/16. However I did get Verizon's invite to their "private" sale that has the storm on the front and the date of the sale is 11/17-11/21 so I'm guessing the release is somewhere in those 4 days.

Got the same email. I already told the GF to save $200 just in case I dont have it on that day. She gets a discount through Long and Foster but it's only online for $50 off. I may just say F it and eat the $50 so I can get it right away.

What Would Don Draper Do?
a lot of people at work are
that blackberry is coming out with a touch phone. (i work at a bank and most of my coworkers are males over the age of 50)
but i think blackberry is doing the right thing by releasing this phone because there's clearly a market for touch phones. and if they can do it while retaining the business-like functions (i have the iphone and i really wish i could copy/paste) of a blackberry, this is going to be an uber cool phone.
with that said, i do want a blackberry for work now so i can get my hands on this or the bold.

My problem is that my contract isn't up until August. I'm not eligible for new every 2 until May. I am eligible for a phone upgrade at 2-yr price, but I think that resets my NE2. Also, my wife isn't eligible for the phone upgrade until March. So, I'm thinking of getting the phone for my account, then transfer it to her number. Then getting another phone in March for me. Anyone know if they will allow that?

Cant you just renew your 2 year agreement at the time of purchase? The only downfall would be now you're under contract until NOV 2010 which probably wont be a problem for you since you're talking about doing it in May anyway.

That would be renewing my 2-year contract at time of purchase, but that resets your NE2 clock.
I just called VZW and they said I could do what I posted above and confirmed that the NE2 clock would reset.

^---correct that's what would happen. And you can definitely add the phone to her line if you like. But if I were you, I'd just put it on your line, then use her NE2 in march and swap phone lines? Or whatever suits you best at that time.

The more I think about it, the less likely I'll get this phone. I just can't justify paying for the BB service.

Trade-Up Deal for Current BlackBerry Users
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/solutio...p=BAC-FBMSLK-2
FYI...until November 30, if you trade in an old BlackBerry through this link, you get a $50 bonus on top of whatever BlackBerry will offer you for your old BlackBerry, by entering code "graduate" during the checkout process.
For my 8-month old Pearl 8130, BlackBerry offers me $59.37, plus the bonus $50.00, for a total of $109.37. That means I can get the new Storm on a 2-year contract for $90.62 after trade and rebate!
![Woot](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/woot.gif)
...or I guess I can try to sell it on flebay or craigslist

Just got done playing with my next phone. My account manager brought it in for us to demo. Sorry for the bad pic. It was taken with my Pearl

The software version was v4.7.0.61 Platform 4.0.0.72
Awesome phone but will def take a little time to get used to. The accelerometer was a little funky but I do think that will be fixed with the new software which will be on the phone before the release.

Ok.... Sorry for the quick first impression.
I was a little excited. Here is a little more in depth.....
First of all let me say that the "clickable" screen is freaking awesome. You never have the problem with other touch screens accidently selecting something you do not want to. The screen feels like strong glass and I noticed no discoloration at all while pressing it in.
Like said before the accelerometer was a little funky. Just by turning the screen a little to the right of left the screen would flip. Sometimes it would flip itself without moving the phone. This though should be fixed before the release. It was responsive though and when trying to change to landscape it was pretty quick.
The phone was a little overwhelming at first when I first picked it up. If you have never had a BB before there will be quite a learning curve. Ive been using a BB for years and it still seemed a little foreign. Nothing that a week playing with it would take care of though. It feels very solid and the metal back cover feels nice in the hand. It is also a great size. Not to big and not to small.
The camera takes awesome pictures and the lens is covered so you do not have to worry about getting it dusty or dirty. The only thing you might have to do is wipe a fingerprint off the glass covering the lens and the flash. The auto focus is a really nice touch as well.
Now to typing in landscape mode... After 2 minutes I was able to write whole sentences almost as quick and a normal qwerty keyboard with actual keys. The only thing that will really take getting used to is typing really fast. On normal keys, if you are quick, you will notice that you will start hitting the next letter before you completely release the last one. This is not possible with the clickable screen. For email and txt addicts like me this will take a little while to get used to.
All in all this phone rocked. If I remember anything else all throw it up here. I only got to play with it for 20 minutes or so. When I get mine a day early on the 20th and have more time to play with it Ill post up some more.

How is everyone getting their Storm? I checked 2 local stores here in ATL and they told me they would have limited supplies and it would be a good idea to order it for Sat delivery for $20 bucks.

Today is the day! Who's got it already? I was supposed to get mine today but as usual life said no to that so I have to wait til next Friday which is payday. Also does that "graduate" promo code work even if you're not trading in a blackberry?

$499 for month to month contract
$319 - ($50 rebate) = $269 for 1 year contract
and you already know the 2 year price

I ordered mine. It should be here tomorrow. I have been reading mixed reviews about the phone, either people love it or hate it.
I'll post my review tomorrow.

I played with it today.
Did not like the screen at all. The rest was just plain old boring Blackberry OS. Verizon network is fast as hell though, but no Wi-Fi sucks.

Blackberry is all new to me, never had one before. I know there is a data plan you have to get, but how much is it? I have a hard time bringing myself to pay for these plans.

My last BB was a lil over 2 years ago when I had nextel but once my GF went to work with Long & Foster and we could discounts we've switched. I cant wait to get rid of this troublesome Q next week! I think my data plan as of right now is around $35. Looking at the website they range from $49.99-99.99 but there's too much info to post about the differences in the plans.
