What are some good Blackberry sites to look up info? I just bought the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and absolutely love it. I'm trying to find/learn as much about it as possible.

So far some very useful sites I have found so far (please add to it if possible):

http://www.crackberry.com
http://www.blackberryforums.com
http://www.bplay.com

Also found this site which is great to use on your BB:

http:/www.bberryone.com (basically a portal to 200 mobilized sites)

Does anyone have any other tips/tricks/things I should know to take full advantage of the Blackberry?

For applications I've heard JiveTalk it really good if you like to use the messenger clients such as AIM/ICQ/MSN...Since it uses the msgs as data rather then texts, and is easy to use. Is there any other must have apps, games, themes, etc?

BTW, if you guys are lazy I found an easy to get the links on your phone.

Just send an AOL IM to +1(your cell #) and paste the link, and the link will be sent via SMS text message to your phone, I do this all the time with phone #'s, bb links, and other information I need to save really fast.

pinstack.com is good too, but a little too P.C. for my tastes

The apps I find userful are:

weathereye (has an updating icon on your home screen to show the current weather)
beyond411 (quick search tool...white pages, yellow pages, business, etc.)
gmail
gmaps
facebook
wallet (new from mobile.blackberry.com...like PW keeper but for credit cards and stuff)
Mortgage calc (useful for me anyway)

I can't use AIM because I'm on OS 4.5 (with the updated webrowser), which is still technically in beta so AIM won't support it.

to download google maps directly from your phone, use www.google.com/gmm in your phones web browser. and for for the best web browsing, download opera mini also using your phones browser.

Something must be up. It is really bugging me. My other problem is it's been taking 10-15 minutes or more at times to get texts, a few times taking more than an hour. I'm so far not very happy with this phone, but can't bring myself to settle for anything else quite yet.

Sweet, posted from my curve using Opera mini.

Edge network is slow as dialup but at least I can get a fix.

Are you leaving wi-fi on at all times? Wifi kills battery life, so I don't keep it on unless I need to use it.

I think I've gone up to 5 minutes without getting texts, but usually it's pretty instant. I think this is more your carrier and location than the phone...it piggybacks on other carriers towers when your network isn't available and it probably takes longer to get a text message (ie I have tmo and sometimes I'm on an att network).

But even though 10-15 minutes seems long, text messaging isn't the same as IM, so don't expect it to be "instant".

I have Verizon, so no wi-fi for me, I think... I love this phone for everything it does well, but being as heavily reliant on texts as I can be this isn't looking too good, my old phone never did this.

Is Google Maps better than the maps already installed on the phone? What's better about it, faster?

Google maps gives you approximate location (without needing GPS) and satellite view.

I don't konw if it's faster than the BB maps or not since I uninstalled the BB maps since I only used google maps.

Google:
-Faster, (It does use internal GPS if equipted, usually)
-FREE!

Telenav/AT&T Nav/whatever
-Voice turn by turn
-search gas buy price
-more accurate (IMHO at least)

Really it comes down to the voice turn by turn, I think google maps is worthless without it.

Well I'm on my second Curve since getting it last Thursday. After getting completely plastered Tuesday night on a camping trip I woke up and my phone no longer worked, Verizon replaced it no questions asked.

Doesn't the Curve 8310 and 8330 share the same size of screen? Bestskins say the screen cover plastic won't fit and I don't understand why.

I've read that the 8330 is a bit larger, Howardforums.com would be the place to check for sure.

The BB Curve is a sweet phone. I just got it 2 weeks ago and I love it. I used to have a HTC s720 and that was a crap phone always problems. I haven't charged my phone for two days now and its still going and I listen to music at work everyday on it and text and cell calls non stop.

Wonderful phone, amazing features... kick ass battery! I would suggest it to anyone

Since getting my phone replaced the new one is doing much better than the old. I haven't charged it in almost two days and have 45% battery life remaining.

Just got one of these myself. I am really liking it.

I am having some troubles figuring out the rings though. Any way to set up the phone to just vibrate for emails/sms and ring or vibrate for calls?

It's actually a little convoluted how to set up the ring profiles just because it allows so much customization. I guess they want to allow you the ability to set up different tones for different email addresses, calls, SMS's and MMS's. I just use the "Normal" profile and edit that as needed instead of using all the other choices.

Profiles >> Advanced >> select "Normal" (or whichever you want to edit)

This is where you select what does what. If you want emails/SMS to vibrate, then for MMS, SMS Text, and any emails you have setup you have to change the notification to "Vibrate". For "Phone", change the notification to "Vibrate+Ring".

One thing that annoys me, but is not a deal breaker, is that it does not alllow you to have a profile that Rings & Vibrates at the same time. The Vibrate+Ring vibrates first x number of times and then rings with no vibration.

Another note, I'm on my first full charge since Friday morning and I still have 25% left (My Samsung CrapJack got 3/4 of a day)

Anyone know when AT&T will release OS v 4.5? It has video recording, HTML email viewing and an updated browser (like Opera Mini).

When I go to non mobile specific sites, most of the content loads (particulary embedded objects).

I try to avoid non-mobile sites since it would take some time to load of EDGE.

I've added a few videos and a movie. Small and short videos are enjoyable such as TG and such. I couldn't watch a movie for more than ten minutes.

BB Curve FTW!
I love this thing. First one I've ever owned and I cant imagine owning a regular phone ever again.

Only thing im worried about is keeping it in my pocket, so I walk around with it in my hand as much as possible. I have a silicone case on it but I don't think I would ever wear a holster or something on my belt besides at work.

Any other apps you guys recommend?
