Bing! Bing! here comes the newest th(B)ing from Microsoft

So, I'm testing a web application in IE8 and I need to search something really quick. I look up, see the Live Search box, figured meh, not worth the hassle to change it, my results didn't open in Live like I had expected. It re-directed to http://www.bing.com.

At first, I was like but after some quick research I found this is the new search engine from Micro$oft.

I don't get it.

You probably didn’t wake up today expecting an entirely new search experience.

But – Bing! – here it is.

So, why a new search engine? Why the new name? Why now?

Well, because even though search is a pretty amazing thing, the current state of search engines has some equally amazing statistics.

So far in 2009, there are four and a half websites created EVERY SECOND as the web continues to expand. While more searchable information is cool, nearly half of all searches don’t result in the answer that people are seeking.

At the same time, the way the world searches is changing. You want more than just information. You want knowledge that leads to action.

The truth is you’ve evolved. It’s time search caught up.

So we had an idea. Start over. And we did.

We took a new approach to go beyond search to build what we call a decision engine. With a powerful set of intuitive tools on top of a world class search service, Bing will help you make smarter, faster decisions. We included features that deliver the best results, presented in a more organized way to simplify key tasks and help you make important decisions faster.

And features like cashback, where we actually give you money back on great products, and Price Predictor, which actually tells you when to buy an airline ticket in order to help get you the best price – help you make smarter decisions, and put money back in your pocket.

We sincerely hope that the next time you need to make an important decision, you’ll Bing and decide.

Thank you,

Microsoft

I searched and didn't find anything either

Edit: Found it: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/bing-729628/

It has Bing in the title, but the only one that shows up is mine.

I feel certain you've tested the "infinite scroll" feature on that search.

damn, at first I thought, yet another failed attempt at mimicking the competition by Microsoft. but after clicking around for a bit, this actually has some pretty cool unique features and behaviors! Bookmarked!

I think the fail threads around here are the best ones, but they usually get deleted...

I said this in the other thread but bing is now my default porn search engine. The video preview feature is great, and it will show results from spankwire and pornhub! yes, Anachostic I know that the video preview had been in Live Search for years.

OMG so MS has this new bing, Windows 7, Zune HD and Xbox Project Natal motion capture thing. I guess they don't suck as much as everyone thinks they do!

I'm not a regular Live search user. In fact, I never knew anything about the video preview on Live or Bing until yesterday when I allowed Bing to run plug-ins through Opera. I was much more impressed afterwards.

I'm going to try Bing as my default search in Opera for a while and see how it works out...

Srika, I now have it on my desktop and my netbook and never ran into that problem.

So you need a driver for your CD/DVD drive? And it wants it on a CD/DVD?
