I'm not saying that the reception sucks, cuase i'm in the middle of sydney and of course there is good service everywhere. But the plans suck....if you even call them plans. They are so ridiculously expensive, and it really makes me appreciate the prices we have back home.

The majority of people here use pre-paid cell service....they basically buy a sim chip and put creidt on it, and talk till it runs out, and rechage. Its pretty easy to switch between providers....u just get another sim.... except that you lose your number

The plan i have is one of the better ones i've found, at least for international students. All the companies list their rates by the 30 second block cause they think they're being sneaky. I get all incoming calls free (thats just how it works here), but for off peak rates, i get raped

Within service provider calls : 16.5 cents / 30 secs
calling any other mobile: 20 cents/30 secs + connection fee (11 cents)
Calling a landline: 20 cents/30 secs + connection fee (11 cents)

and sending a text message is 16.5 cents. I get raped~! 40 cents a minute is crazy. its 14.7 cents/30 secs to call the US from my cell down here.....so its cheper to call the US than another mobile in Australia. its bullshit i tell you

 

eww, that is really bad...

as much as they should change their plans they dont have to since all the other carriers are the same price...

 

It's what I've been saying for years. USA > * where * <> {Japan and maybe Korea/HongKong}

 

i forgot to say that the money is in Aussie dollars , but the exchange rate inst too great, so it doesnt make tha tmuch difference
