Talking Apple is so amazing!

My iPhone 3G turned itself off on Memorial Day and never turned back on. It was way out of warranty (about 9 months out of warranty), but I decided to send Apple a letter last week telling them (in a nutshell) if they replace my iPhone for free, out of warranty, I will continue to stay loyal to them. Well, on Thursday I got an email response from them telling me "....Apple has agreed to service your iPhone at no cost to you....When our service facility receives your iPhone, they will send you a replacement iPhone...." I am so stoked! So remember guys, sometimes all you have to do is ask!

So your phone died for no reason?

Yep. I was cleaning my car on memorial day and when I went to pick up my phone off of the workbench, it wouldn't turn on.

My phone just did the same thing for about 15 minutes, then it turned itself back on.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Apple (because Steve Jobs is a control freak and I prefer Android's open-source), but I have to admit they do have amazing customer service. If there's anything wrong with your ipod/iphone, you can just take it to the store and they'll usually replace it for free. At least that's my personal experience

My MacBook suffered the infamous top case crack well past a year out of warranty and Apple still paid for it to be replaced. Their customer service is top-notch and I frankly believe it can't be beat. My next computer will be a MacBook Pro, mainly because the MacBook no longer comes in black.

Did you try pressing the two buttons at the same time for like 30 seconds. I had that issue and thought my phone bricked. Set the appt with Apple and everything. On the way to work I thought about it, and there it worked.

Their service is good. My wife's phone from the get go had issues. But then towards the end of having it, my daughter likes to suck on the charging cables. So it mustve been wet when we charged it one of the last times so that charging piece at the bottom of the phone had black marks on it. Didn't affect the phone but she wanted to swap it anyway while in warranty. Naturally the Genius bar guy thought it fucked up because of the wetness. He still replaced the phone even after I nicely argued with him.
