Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
VR in it's roll out and worthwhile available content is very much in its infancy.
Screen resolution of ridiculous amounts (4k) on a screen that size is pure marketing. Much like 4k in the home. Its not needed. HDR technology is far more important and worth its weight than 4k.

But for VR on phones, it's the opposite; it makes all the difference. Double the pixels (4K) = double the picture quality since the VR headset is magnifying what's on the phone's screen. 4K becomes quite noticeably better in the VR case.
And iphones aren't even full HD if i recall correctly.
As I am in need of a new iPhone to replace my 5S, I'm torn between the jet black and matte black and I am going to try and buy sight unseen during the preorder period this Friday.
My first iPhone ever was a 3S which kind of had a similar jet black finish appearance too and I did like it but the matte black one looks great.
Anyone else trying to decide between the two colors?

Rumors have it that jet black scratches easily

I'm personally a bigger fan of matte black

Only problem I'd have is that on the corners of my Space Gray 6 where they could have been rubbed from holding it, the finish is wearing off a bit which could be worse on an even darker color. My work iPhone was a gold 6 and as of now I'm leaning towards getting one, probably in 128GB. Might even go 32GB since I've moved more to streaming than keeping videos saved. I do wish they could have gone to at least 1080p on 4.7 and 1440p on 5.5, but then I guess it's more pixels to drive and could screw with battery life. The original math was that 326ppi was where the human eye couldn't discern individual pixels at "smartphone distance" anyway. I'm more annoyed that they didn't announce new MBP models since I'm tired of carrying my 15-inch 2011 around (I'm not buying one released at the beginning of last year).

Yes true. I bought a FHD instead last year knowing it won't make much difference.

Again VR is in its infancy. Technology will adapt when its actually relevant. Right now its early adopter.

Mario is officially coming to the iPhone. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto made a surprise appearance at today’s Apple conference to announce Super Mario Run, an iOS runner with graphics from New Super Mario Bros.
Ordered mine about 45 mins ago. 2-3 weeks to ship. I have to deal with a 'virtual' home button until then since my home button is out of wack.
Ended up with going 128gb jet black 7 (not plus).

I'm using a "smoked clear TPU Case" for my gold Nexus 6P. kinda cool looking and hasnt yellowed or looked shitty since I put it on.
honestly, it does everything I need and then some. but I'm assuming, now-a-days, with high-end processors and sensors, MOST of today's phones will satisfy any one.
the one thing I dis-like is how large it is. does not fit in my small-girly hands.

6S here, not sure if I'm upgrading but if I were to it'd be to a 128Gb black 7plus.

whiners going to whine.
Some a phone that has innovated, truly broken new ground, or changed how we use a phone since the original iPhone?
Everything since then has been incremental. To constantly expect "the next best thing" with every new product announcement is stupid and futile.

The phone has solid improvements from the 6, just like every phone improved on the previous models. I agree it's just people bitching about shit because they are bored / have nothing better to do.

I dont really use, well can't because 6 Plus
but I don't plan to use Live Photos. Didn't really care for it.
Shooting in RAW would be nice, but I wouldn't want to use it for ALL the pictures I take.
ive been transferring the RAW photos from my 5D Classic during my Eurotrip I'm on right now, the 5D is 12.8MP and they eat up so much space.
