any graphic designers here? LCD vs. CRT

Got a question for any graphic designers, photographers, and/or web designers here, working professionally in the field (or anyone else that may have researched and have any knowledges about this question). Can you give some comments about CRT vs. LCD, from a field perspective? Have you seen any trends, or developments, anything surprising - anything that clients insist on (project must be done on CRT, or something, I don't know)....... in the field?

It's my understanding that CRT has better color reproduction and is more accurate than LCD in that area - but apparently LCD's are getting closer and starting to "blur the line".

Thoughts?

thanks in advance

I would like to add that, my friend recently got a new Dell 2001FP 20.1" monitor with 16ms refresh rate - the new version of the 2000FP I have. While the refresh rate was great, and noticeable in games, I also noticed that there was a greater area in between the pixels horizontally, meaning you could see "lines" running horizontally across the screen in certain applications and when viewing certain images. I didn't like this, at all. What I mean is, it was not smooth, seamless color.

So it's like, refresh rate was improved greatly, but image reproduction was reduced. :<

can't go wrong with a top of the line CRT. im not a graphics designer but i keep up displays. the dell you mentioned is supposed to be one of the better LCD displays on the market currently. if you werent happy with that i would definitely stick with a good CRT. personally i wont make the switich to a thin display until a good OLED screen comes out. until then ill glady trade desk space for superior image quality.

Apple Studio display is not eligible for this comparison, lol.

Seriously tho, those are in a league by themselves, as far as I'm concerned. Sweet as hell.

And oh yeah I'm talking about for a PC setup.

hmm..... I'm trying to help a friend (graphic designer/photographer as a hobby, but wants to get more serious with it) - looks like for now, she's gonna get a Dell 8600 laptop with 15.4" widescreen running WUXGA at 1920x1200 - and see how that works for her - and then add a 21"+ CRT later if needed.
