So there is a $200 mark up for the 4G....which means the 50/year 4G service is really offset by the mark up.

Still, if your plugged into the amazon world its a really nice device.

No need to be plugged in, really with there being an amazonprime app for the ipad now. But as you said, if plugged in, ...

those $50 also get you 20gb of cloud service... but and its a big but, only 250mb/month of data.

They will have 3/5gb data options but no price on that as of now

Well done on Freetime with a kids profile. I've seen many kids including mine ask to play with these devices. Gotta hide the porn

And as nice as the price is and storage I'd prefer all the apps instead of just the Amazon approved ones and the Nexus has a quad core processor. Let's see what Apple does next month.

We got my son the Kindle Fire HDX 7 inch yesterday and I actually love it. Very fast, the Free Time app is great for kids, we played with Mayday, just generally a great tablet.

Each of my kids have the KF HD and Freetime makes it so easy to limit time and content.

I'm glad to hear NSXNEXT and Whiskers' kids enjoy their Fire tablets. Amazon was clearing out last year's Fire HD 7 for $79 or $99 for 16GB (I bought the 16GB) on Monday. My daughter's bday is coming up so I'm looking forward to this.
