Mine was 16 pounds, overheated constantly and the entire case was made of cheap plastic. The hard drive AND motherboard died just after one year.

Good to know.

But, was it good for gaming while it was operational?

It was a great gaming machine. But as a laptop, it was worthless. Too hot, heavy and too much flex. It was basically a desktop with a pretty paintjob.

And on that note, PC games arguably have better simulation games. Aside from from the GT series on the Playstation consoles, I think all the best sims are on the PC...

Rome Total War is fucking awesome. I just started back up to get warmed up to the expansion pack thats coming out later this month "Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasian." It's set around the time Roman empire starts to decay.

I'm looking forward to it as well. 10,000 Urban and Praetorian Cohorts, ballistas and onagers verses the best the Huns, Goths, Lombards and others can send against me

Watch Gladiator to really get you pumped up to play RTW

Well, I think it's too good to be true.

And that being said, you already have some feedback that Alienware laptops have issues...

Not a Dell notebook fan here either.

Personally, I'd suggest you to take a look at Toshiba. I own an Acer Travelmate 8000 and love it to death. But, I hear it's an acquired taste...

Of course if you have a blank cheque, I'd consider IBMs...

Good small desktop replacement if you can swallow the price, but they aren't very upgradable and portability isn't really there.

Some dells are nice, most aren't. We have these cool little dells here at work... i wanna say they're 600Ms. They're solid, stable, fast, and reliable.

I personally hope my work buys me a new Titanium IBM
