Fuck that! $230!?!?!? You can get a USB 3.0 Portable 1TB drive for $110 or less. I don't think a portable hard drive is going to max out USB 3.0 bandwidth and not worth the extra $$$$ for TB. We don't all have $$$$$ like you wsklar........

What they need to do is just sell the thunderbolt to sata 3 with sata power setup that they made for this and I'd be all over it.

pure waste of $$$, as your computer/bus/hdd factors substantially limit the throughput.

It's like buying a Ferrari to race it in Midtown during peak hours.

I like my SSDs and eSata options. where is the rush?

Not at all. Its fast enough to runs VM Boxes off of and the SSD's are not cheap.

True, makes sense.

I would be more interested in fast and inexpensive NAS servers :/

OK, but those aren't portable.

For $200 its worth it. Sure I would love a SSD TB drive, but its not needed.

Thunderbolt makes sense for Apple... I don't own Apple products, except the iPhone/iPad.

For VMware it's a great portable option. I just got 256GB Samsung 830 SSD for $190; this is my choice for portability with sata. Granted, it is not 1TB

^yes, but I'm hot swappable, I use sata iii directly.

but it would be lovely to have thunderbolt on a PC laptop. It's tough to compete with 10Gbps thunderbolt. Do you know when it make hit the market for PC geeks?

edit: http://www.extremetech.com/computing...d-in-the-water

40Gbps? kwaazy.
