200 GB hard drive for $100
200 GB hard drive for $100
I went to that slickdeals.net site where the free magazine subscription came from, and found a link to Staples where they were advertizing a maxtor 200GB drive for $100 after a $200 rebate. For this price you could turn around and make a nice profit on ebay. http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...e=1&Sku=504517
Problem is, I called them to see how to get the $200 rebate, and they said it was a mistake on the web site and they were working on fixing it. SO, I already purchased one- do I just tell them to take it back? What recourse do I have? Does this fall under false advertizing?

I would CANCEL my order. I'm sure its false advertising, but all they have to say was it was an error on the printing companies part, or the person doing the webpage. They will NEVER admit blame.
I just clicked on the rebate link, the rebate is only $50!!!!!
As long as the rebate form is correct, you have no recourse, just cancel your order!!!!

It is not false advertising. It is a mistake.
Sites like slickdeals and fatwallet will point out the "mistake of the day", there are tons of them.
It's hit or miss whether you can get the deal or not. If the SRP is wrong, you might win. But you can never win on a rebate which will allow them over a month to catch the error. Did you ever get a rebate form that said $200 on it?
You can cancel your order. They will never admit blame simply because they don't have to. They have ever right to make a mistake and then recover from it.
