100% CPU usage when I try to charge my battery?

I have a pretty new machine I got in January, dell xps m1330 pretty decked out and love it. But for some reason lately, I'll be using the computer for a while without it being plugged in, then I go to charge it while I'm still using it, and after plugging it in the computer slows down tremendously and CPU usage basically jumps to 100%. Any reason why? How can I fix this. Will be a big problem when I start law school in a few weeks if I cant get it fixed. Thanks in advance guys!

See what processes are making it jump like that.

Ctrl + Alt + Del to get the menu to pop up.

EDIT: I hate Dell.

"No Homo" in a computer thread = No MAC comments.

No Homo.

If it's under warranty, let Dell deal with it.

I second BigLizard's suggestion, though, open Task Manager, select the "Processes" tab and sort by Mem Usage, but keep an eye on the CPU column.

Check your battery settings. Also run a spybot check.

ITUNES and taskmanager are the 2 processes that go nuts when I charge in the battery, but whatever is opened causes more cpu usage, I dont want to get dell to help cuz they dont know shit and I dont want them touching my computer so hoped some techies here knew.

Thats for win2000, but now I also saw someone complain from 2007 for their new laptop, they said they had it sent in and now its fixed, said they think it was a motherboard issue. Just great, new computer and motherboard issues. At least I have the in home 24/7 4 year warranty.

So, it just can't figure out the power stepping thing... Let Del put a new MB in to it.

I am sure they won't break something else whiile they fix it...

dell is complete junk...i'm so glad I got rid of mine when I did. My wife's gateway is working like gold for now. I updated the cpu fan to a larger thermaltake fan, threw in an SLI graphics card, and is running on 1.25 GB of RAM. I can't complain...

Cancel ITUNES in computer management so it isn't running all the time. That program sucks up a LOT of memory.

Can you give me some quick tutorial where to do that?

BTW why does dell suck? I've loved this computer so far, really powerful, really fast, great LED screen, light, and full size keyboard in a small package. Has done everything I've wanted so far.

Installing BIOS update and windows update, lets see what happens. I really dont want to have to call dell out, but I guess we will see.

Have you tried running the diagnostics test that comes with every Dell computers? After the initial test and everything passes, it should ask you if you would like to do a thorough test. The 3 choices for that thorough test is Quick, Full, and Symptom Tree. Choose Symptom Tree and it should have a FAQ type of symptoms.
