*Techies* Windows problem?

hey guys, i hope you can help me out here..Got a windows problem. I'm trying to assign user rights to the program files directory, and when i do it, it's fine. i can give the user read and write access. now, if i log out, and log in, it's fine, it stays. BUT if i reboot the machine, the user rights i changed disappear. i was thinking it's a mandatory profile thing, but it isn't. if i log in as the local admin, it still does the same thing (resets). ALSO, if i create a NEW folder in the program files, and i assign the user rights to the folder, reboot, the settings stay. it's a really strange problem, and i can't figure it out. any help would be appriciated
thanks!

There could be a login script on your network that strips away shares for security/virus prevention. If not, try deleting and re-creating your profile, or simply log in as local admin and rename your current user profile username.old and log back in for a fresh profile.

your program files directory is likely inheriting permissions from the parent directories and overwriting/aggregating your changes. Make sure you don't check off where it says 'allow inheritable permissions to propagate to this object' then say yes when it says to copy the security settings to all objects beneath...it's under advanced in the security tab for the directory.

I thought I was the only one who thought this would be a good idea.

Wait, are you jockying for a Mod position Zero?

BTW, I agree with zeroday. That goes for the permissions set on the Domain Controller as well.

yeah i would have mentioned AD group policy etc, but he said he logged on locally as administrator and still had the problem so I didn't think it would be that.

um. ok gotta whip out nick burns on your ass now.

HELLOO!!!! my suggestion has nothing to do with whether it's connected to a network. right click on the gerd damn program files folder, select security, advanced, and uncheck allow inherited permissions!! DO IT!! DO IT NOW!!!
