Got it - so probably some sports radio grumblings, but the general population isn't exactly marching on his house with torches and pitchforks yet.

Goddamn Mo, thats 4 blown saves in a row.... I really dont know what the hell is going on. I really think its kinda like what happened with the Yanks and Pedro. We figured out his pitching, and now i think the Blow Sox have figured out Rivera..... Good game, its gonna be a great season!

Trust me - if I could I would have him permanently tethered to the mound at Dodger Stadium. I guess that would make him unavailable for road games, but you get the idea.

A-Rod is a great player everyone makes errors..What the guy has accomplished at this age is amazing. Everyone is just on his butt because he blew off Boston and is not putting up numbers like he did in Seattle and Texas. Here in NY he doesnt need to put up those numbers. I would be happy if A-Rod hit 300 w/ 30 home runs and 90 rbis...I expect more out of Sheffield than A-Rod..Who cares about the money, obviously George doesn't

Sounds like you're rationalizing his $25 million dollar salary and general lack of clutch production.

I stopped by after work and their little sports section looked like it had stocked Cabbage Patch dolls and it was 1985.

I'm a yankee fan, and I'm not on his butt because he blew off boston. I couldn't care less about what he did to boston. Yes, everybody makes errors but in clutch situations I expect a guy like A-Rod to come through. That was a game ending double play ball. And I care about the money, because there are better third basemen - offensively and defensively - that we could have, even without spending as much as we did.

I don't want A-Rod gone... I just want him to play up to his potential, which he has yet to do in NY. It doesn't matter one bit that he doesn't have to... that's bullshit. He has to, because if he does, then we win that game yesterday.

This is not an excuse for a guy with his abilities but everyone tends to forget he is a shortstop and not a 3rd baseman and a shot to 3rd comes on you alot quicker than it does to short. I don't think he makes that same error 2 months from now, its still early. In regards to Mariano he needs to be honest and let the people know what is bothering him. If he is fine than he needs to pitch fine and stop walking people. I think they need to start looking for a back up closer just in case.

Mariano is fine.... The problem is, he had bursitis in is elbow that kept him out for most of Spring Training. So his normal spring training time is happening right now. See my post about about sitting him down and telling him to come back when he's done with spring training. John Kruk gave a good explanation on Sportscenter last night.

At least it's early in the season. The Yankees have some time to evaluate things. Make some changes if they need to. They do need another closer. Mariano is getting up there. He said it himself in the intview from the 2nd game...
"I bleed, I'm human, I'm not a machine"
Disappointing game yes, but not the end of the world.

...that might be true, if A-Rod wasn't losing the game for the formerly best team in MLB.

I love the way all you Yankee homos are preoccupied with Damon's hair while all we in Boston care about is the fucking Grand Slam he owned you with in Game 7 last year.

Just found this. Make sure you read the questions to the seller. It's pretty funny.

This one was great:

Q: If I'm the high bidder, will you throw in Felix Rodriguez?

A: I CAN NOT INCLUDE FELIX, BUT I WILL THROW IN TWO DURACELL AA BATTERIES, A COPY OF JUDGE DREDD ON VHS, AND A BOTTLE OF CRISTAL CHAMPAGNE.

These were my favorites:

Q: Do you think you could throw in Gary Sheffield's wife?? If so then consider this item SOLD!!! Go Sox!
A: I AM NOT PERMITTED TO THROW IN GARY'S WIFE...BUT HE IS PERMITTED TO WHOOP YOUR ASS FOR SAYING THAT.

Q: Does item come with directions for the Heimlich Manuveur in case he chokes again?
A: WELL CONSIDERING THIS IS ALMOST UP TO $100 MILLION I WILL INCLUDE ONE OF THOSE ORANGE HEIMLECH POSTERS THAT ARE USUALLY FOUND IN PIZZERIAS JUST IN CASE.

Q: How about a trade? I will send you over Looper, who does his own fair share of blowing games. The cost of shipping will be really cheap too, as the subways only cost $2.50 I know you dont want him going to our beloved Metropolitans, so I will even give you back Heredia at no extra cost. Deal?
A: HOW ABOUT YOU JUST KICK ME IN THE FACE AND WE CALL IT EVEN! I WILL HOWEVER ACCEPT ANY TRADES INCLUDING WILLIE RANDOLPH...GIVE HIM BACK!

Anybody watch the ceremony? It was pretty cool. My favorite part was when they introduced all the Yankees. I think the fans even booed their massage therapist. Then they announced Rivera, and the place went wild cheering for him. Everybody was laughing, and even Mariano himself looked like he was having fun.
