https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ic-alcoholism/

The tragic death of former NFL receiver Vincent Jackson has given rise to many questions. Answers are beginning to emerge.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, appearing Wednesday on Q105 in Tampa, announced one of the key findings of the autopsy report.

Via PewterReport.com, Chronister said that, based on the autopsy, Jackson suffered from “chronic alcoholism.” Chronister, who added that Jackson had “a lot of longstanding health conditions,” said that the toxicology report has not yet been completed.

Jackson was found Monday in a hotel. He’d been staying there since January 11. Chronister said the family believes that Jackson’s circumstances were the result of CTE arising from his years of playing football.

It’s a tragic situation, and it underscores the various challenges faced by former football players as they transition to what Hall of Fame Steelers coach Chuck Noll referred to as their “life’s work.” Hopefully, the sport that has begun in recent years to take the health and safety of current players more seriously will soon take the health and safety of former players more seriously, too.

A fund for past players who have suffered cognitive issues is one thing; it arrived as a strategy for making a major legal headache go away. Moving forward, the challenge will be to take care of the players who choose to keep playing football despite the risks.

Yes, they are well compensated during their careers. They should be. The question is will a slice of the pie ever be used to take care of them in the decades after their names have faded from view.

This will get worse before it gets better. Lots of former players out there in their 40's and older who played when safety rules and protective equipment were a lot less.

Why do you keep posting videos and stuff about a non-NFL player?

Stay on topic or I'm banning you.

This will be an interesting move though - apparently it reunites him with people who presided over his more successful seasons. But I still think the guy is a loose cannon. He makes some of the worst decisions of any active QB IMO. The thinks he's Mahomes. The man can't improvise to save his life. But, Indy has a good team with a good O-Line, good defense, credible running game. If they can just keep Wentz from improvising they might have something.

But you now, "bad Wentz" will always show up at the wrong time though. All in all I think it will end badly for them.

If Indy has the WR and O-line, Wentz can be good. In Philly, he did NOT have the setup necessary for much success lately and he's not THAT mobile.

I think his biggest problem is he thinks he is.

Yeah, well, he has to if he's running for his life.

Frankly, I'm used to that being a Bears fan.

You're just lucky you have Wilson as QB. The only players I think are A+ when the pocket dies is Rodgers and Wilson. Mahomes too until the Superbowl. Not sure what happened but as I quipped, I sure got a preview of what he would look like as a Bear cuz that's how the KC offense looked like in the SB: Chicago's.

Everyone else, without proper protection and WRs, meh. Brady, as "great" as he is, when he does not have his 2342143125 Mississippis and you pressure him? He stinks...just like everyone else. Please see how the Bears beat Tampa earlier this year. He got hit a few times and don't tell me he missed training camp and etc. So did every other team.

Oh I agree it is the one and only place I give him a chance to succeed. If he can take orders to the man that first coached him and led him on his MVP level season before he got injured he has a chance to be good and possibly great. But if he stays as bullheaded as everyone seems to be coming out and saying he was in Philly after Reich left then it will be a failed project for Indy. They have a lot of pieces in place there. He doesn't even need to be great just good for them to have success I feel. I don't agree that he can't improvise. He is super mobile and strong, think Rothenburger, but he needs to learn to read a defense better to do it. He was great that one season even at improvising.

He is mobile but in a Rothenburger and Rodgers way not a Lamar Jackon and Patrick Mahomes way. He definitely needs to learn and understand that.

Still no news one way or another on Brees and then you have Cam exchanging words with younger players. Not sure I understand the whole Cam exchange and why it's such a big deal - especially if you see all of the footage.

They cannot have Wilson. Most days he's the only thing Seattle has going for it. And I mean the entire city, not just the franchise.

With last night's loss to the Phoenix Suns, the Minnesota Timberwolves have officially surpassed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the worst winning percentage in the history of American sports! (Active franchises)

With the loss to the Suns last night the Timberwolves all-time record fell to 987-1524 for an overall winning percentage of 0.39307. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers all-time regular season record is 278-429-1, for an overall winning percentage of 0.39321. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/index.htm

Tampa Bay also has two Super Bowl Championships on their resume while the Timberwolves only have two playoff series wins in their 32 year history.
