New England Patriots apologize after charging fans for tap water at Gillette Stadium

A New England Patriots spokesperson apologized Monday, a day after the team charged fans at least $4.50 for tap water at Gillette Stadium.

With the temperature hitting an unseasonably high 86 degrees in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the team doubled its inventory of water bottles for Sunday's game, the Boston Globe reported. That was almost four times the inventory for an average game.

The problem was that each concession stand could hold only so many bottles.

When the on-hand supply ran dry, fans started asking for cups of tap water -- and, according to numerous tweets, were charged $4.50 or $5 per soda cup. The tap water was the only option available until more bottles could be brought to individual stands throughout the stadium.

Usually the team and the stadium are separate entities. Is that not the case at Gillette?

But not sorry enough to donate the proceeds - or something other than keeping the money.

Because doing one good thing justifies doing a bad thing?

I don't know who is in charge of what over there and I don't really care all that much. If the money already went to non-profits that's great. Apology was appropriate. But that wasn't clear in the article.

Oh Packers went, alright. All over the Bears.

Glennon's multiple turnovers were...almost artistic-like.

That's talent. Right there.

Trevathan should be fined for the hit on Adams. Down right uncalled for! Chock up another name on the injury list that is already 2 pages... Montgomery has cracked ribs as well.

The best part of the hit was it was to the face mask area instead of the crown, causing his spine to compress. Still a nasty hit that should never have happened.

This week and season has been crazy! Even last week.

Rams beat Cowboys in their own house. Rams also lead division.

Bills beat Falcons in their own house. Bills lead division.

Lions, same

Jags, Eagles, Chiefs lead division as of this writing

The Niners game had mostly FGs, only TD was with 32s left in OT. Aside from the penalties, was actually entertaining.

The defense has been awful to start the year. If defenders were just getting beat, I'd say ok they'll figure it out, but they are literally no covering people on multiple occasions

I need that Skins defense to be dominant again tonight if we're to keep pace with the Eagles

Giants lose again to another last minute FG. The team cannot get both the offense and defense to play a 60 min game. Another disappointing season.

We lost too many players on defense last night and Josh Doctson dropped the potential game winner

Well I got Cousins on a bye and scopped Deshaun Watson off waivers. Let's see if he's the real deal.

He's been sitting on his ass for 4 weeks and the Patriots only had a few days off since their last game. I expected him to do well, maybe he's extra motivated after his suspension. He played his best when he had 1 year left on his contract
