He was running for his life last night!

We were talking about it today at work. Wondering if Bill (who was pretty pissed at gronk) would tell him not to appeal it. Kinda set an example for the team that you can't act this way
On another note gronk has never been in trouble with the league before so it will be interesting how the league handles it. These days it seems like every appeal is won
****Edit: On the field related suspensions

I don't know how you appeal that. It's great he apologized, but there is no valid excuse for it. He lost his cool, made a bad decision, and should just take it and move on.
I could see the appeal to just be a delaying action to maybe game 15 or 16 when there is no consequence.

Bengals shit the bed. Can't say I was too surprised in the end, though I was pulling for then to win. Hit on Burfict wasn't dirty IMO, my dislike for the guy notwithstanding.
Hopefully Shazier ends up just fine, that was really scary to see him just drop after the hit.

I can see both sides of the Burfict hit, but lets not forget he isnt exactly a saint either. He tried decapitating AB a couple years back, and is known around the league as a dirty player

Looks like Shazier is doing OK - that's good news. That was a scary moment.

Yeah the guy is a piece of shit. Didn't he stomp on some dude's arm while the guy was on the ground? There are a least a couple of other egregious after-the-whistle things he's done, just can't remember exactly what

He has a long history of attacking players, especially on the Steelers, he blew out Bell's ACL and then danced around celebrating while he was writhing in pain on the sideline, he tried to kill AB with that headshot last year in the playoffs that cost them the game, and he repeatedly has gone after Big Ben's ankles and knees trying to take him out. The dude is a punk and I hate him, I don't wish any player harm, but man did that feel like karma when he went down. I wish Juju wouldn't have stood over him and taunted him, but that's emotions man, I think he had just had enough

I'd be interested in the data, but my perception is this is a notably bad year for injuries. So if the root cause traces to an increase in player illegal/unsafe behavior, then I suspect the NFL will pull the reigns in pretty hard. Lots of analysts I'm reading were pretty disappointed with the conduct of last night's game - but those kind of hits seem to be all over the place. Seems like we're having a lot of brawls too. Just my perception - which is why some data would be interesting to know if it's actually worse this year or not.

How do you guys determine who to start in the fantasy playoffs? Specifically defenses.
The Redskins have a ton of crucial injuries and may get eliminated from playoff contention in the coming weeks. But I want to get a head start and pick up their defense, as they play Arizona and Denver week 15/16.

Football will always be dangerous. But there is a line out there that differentiates between the risk you take running into each other at high speed, and targeting heads and knees with no regard for the opponent's safety. You can play the game and hit people hard without undo risk of life-altering injury to the other person. These hits are going a step past that line, and that's what I think the NFL should be concerned about. You get 1-2 NFL players being paralyzed every season football will cease to exist in 20 years.

James Harrison said this years ago, once they made the headshot rules he said that everyone is just going to start going low and blowing out ACL's, it sure seems like he was right when everyone's blowing out their knees in freaking preseason on

Gronk should have gotten more than 1 game, dude did a peoples elbow to the back of someone's head, but he gets preferential treatment because the Pats. And the fact that he's appealing, hey I hear the judge having you on your fantasy team helps.... Iloka makes sense as he was headhunting and the catch was already made. Smith-Shuster I don't get, and not just because I'm a Steelers fan, but the guy made a block, I already said I don't agree with the taunting afterwards but he was suspended for making a block... A fine would have made sense, but to get the same penalty as Gronk is ludicrous
