But, he still played like the Peyton we all know.
Nice win by the Broncos.

Broncos are very scary now. Nice pick up of Tracy Porter, not to mention that other FA signing
I bet the old refs are back next week. The coaches/owners will be giving Goodell non-stop hell this week.
And I've always thought Jim Harbaugh was a little Weird guy

I've been living under a rock.
Apparently the reason for some bad calls - I haven't watched much if at all of other games this week - is because the NFL referees are doing a lockout/strike? Makes sense.

I had to be at work at 6:30AM and didn't leave until 5:30PM, get home intent on watching the Broncos game and fall asleep as soon as I sit down...
Hope Manning played well, winning is winning I suppose.

but FWIW... Andrew Luck's stats today was near identical to Manning's stats in his first game/NFL debut.

Fun game to watch last night. Having trouble getting interested in watching either game tonight though.

49ers vs Packers - wow. The game wasn't as close as the score indicated.....I think those new weapons might help Alex Smith out.
That Packers defense is still broken - that secondary sucks at tackling still

Are the Niners finally going to start getting some respect? People still claiming they'll be coming back down to earth. A team that plays defense like that, doesn't turn the ball over and rushes the ball like they do will be tough to beat, end of story. Now that they may have a few more weapons on offense I don't see that changing. As much as I'd like to start seeing Alex smith take more chances, what they're doing works, why change anything.

The NFC super powers went down/had problems this week except SF. Giants lost, Saints lost, Atlanta was tied with weak KC as late as the 3rd. ESPN just needs to anoint them champs at least this week.

But, let's maintain some perspective...it's Week 1. Alex Smith outplayed Rodgers...which was very surprising. Can Smith maintain his high-level of play?

After 5+ years of investigation and you think they'll magically find something now?
Remember these accusations are from around 06-07
He never had any, that's the joke about the whole suspension circus ring.

And its not like Rodgers played terribly. SF made the big plays on defense when they had to.
This is why I don't see this team "coming back down to earth". Unless their defense and running game go south of course.

See that's just it. He passed for 21x yards. He didn't light the place on fire, never does. Harbaugh will never allow him to it seems. When they have a 3rd and more than 10 yards, they run the ball. They don't let the opportunity for those kinds of mistakes to be a factor. Smith played like he allows does, turnover free, efficient football. What exactly is there to maintain? and if that's what qualifies as high play then he's been doing that for over a season already.

I think the 9ers have been turnover free for what, forever?

The 9ers D is the heart and soul of that team, Smith is decent, but that D is tremendous

Glad I missed every bit of the game because of softball tonight
I'm expecting a sophomore slump this year after our surprise playoff run last year. We have to be one of the youngest teams in the league, especially on offense.

I was actually in Oakland today, only caught the first half on TV. There were more people cheering against them than for them

Yup. Not much chance for continuity or to build upon success when you keep changing coaches. But Hue Jackson (their previous coach) went off on his team last year after an important loss.... doesn't look good as a head coach.
I've said it before, no way they'd win another SB as long as Al Davis was in charge, no offense to him intended. He is an NFL legend but he had his hand in too many things all at once. Jackson was a remnant from the Al Davis era, and they might suffer in the meantime but the Raiders actually have a fighting chance now
