I think I read somewhere that Favre is guaranteed $13M this season, with a possibility of his 1 year deal topping out at $20M.

I need to make my annual predictions again. Haven't done it in a couple of years. Was about 65% on every game (straight up).

For about seven years running, I had the correct Super Bowl winner. Fucking Patriots.

yea they increased his salary this year in hoping to get him back this year, Farve states he did not come back for the money but also has nothing to prove, just wants to take this team to the super bowl.

it doesnt matter cuz the BOYS are going all the way, plowing everyone out of their way!

Wow he came back, I had no idea. More money was definitely a reason why he came back, not to mention the fact that he just loves the limelight...

From what I've read, it's $14MM guaranteed with as much as $20MM if we win the Super Bowl. I don't really know how accurate that is.

...and let's be honest here, he's not "coming back" this year. He never left and at no point was ever seriously considering retiring. It's obvious he just wanted to avoid training camp and was trying to get as much attention diverted to him as possible.

So, I'm ready for some football.

I can't wait until Peppers introduces Favre to turf.

IF he can get to Favre, it'll be one shining moment in an otherwise abysmal Bears season.

...you keep focusing on those petty wins though, I'll continue to think big-picture.

Big picture...? Oh, you mean the Dikings' tear-filled press conference when Favre announces his "retirement" come spring?

No, he's like herpes...keeps coming back.

There are days you think it's coming back cuz you get that tingle. Oops, false alarm...then there are days, bam. Surprise, it's back.

Herpes.

The reason it's a big deal is because people like y'all make it one. If you don't care, don't watch. ESPN covers it because it gets ratings, like it or not.

Well, I care in the extent that it won't help their SB chances.

I mean, if it were Tom Brady or Peyton Manning joining the Dikings...that's another story.

But, Favre...really? They may make the playoffs, but they won't get anywhere closer to the Lombardi Trophy than last year.

Harvin collapses, taken away in ambulance

By CHIP SCOGGINS, Star Tribune

Last update: August 19, 2010 - 1:34 PM
Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin collapsed at the team’s Winter Park facility Thursday while watching practice and was loaded into an ambulance.

Harvin, who has suffered from severe migraines, was not on the field for the start of practice. He was seen talking to head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman outside the locker room at Winter Park and then jogged onto the field to watch practice. A few minutes later, Harvin vomited and then fell to the ground.

He came out for special teams practice and started having problems when he looked into sky catching punt.

Vikings coach Brad Childress on Harvin's migraines: "That one hit and it hit hard. Always scary for all of our guys when you see teammates struggling."

Childress added that Harvin was "trembling" as he lay on the field. He said this is second time Harvin has been taken to hospital because of migraines.

Practice continued as the team’s medical staff tended to him. After about 10 minutes, a police car and ambulance from the Hennepin County Medical Center arrived and EMTs tended to Harvin as practice stopped and players watched.

The team did 10 plays while Harvin was in ambulance and then ended practice early. Players obviously were concerned coming off field.

Harvin missed two weeks of training camp while dealing with migraines after the death of his grandmother. Harvin has suffered from severe migraines since he was 10. He missed a number of practices and one game last season, his rookie season, while dealing with them. Harvin said the severe effects include vomiting and loss of vision.

Harvin was scheduled to talk to reporters Thursday for the first time since he left training camp in Mankato on Aug. 1. The team held a prayer on the field while he was worked on by EMTs inside the ambulance.

Hey, don't blame me for that.

Not sure why they thought that a team that had no offensive line, no WRs, no pass-rush, no blocking could've done well.

They look better this year, IMO.

Definitely better than the Fackers and Dikings.

Depends on if Harvin pukes in the huddle and passes out.

Then Favre slips in the puke and Adrian has to catch him before he falls. But he'll fumble and Favre tears an ACL.

But all Cowboy bashing aside, I don't see them winning the superbowl. Maybe losing in the NFC title game but thats as far as they get IMO.

Chicago has got to have the most useless group of talented players of any team in the NFL, and as much as I hate McDaniels getting rid of Cutler was the best thing he's done.

That said, the Broncos will go 6-10, and it will all be because we have three useless QB's on our team, especially in Tebow.

+1!!!!

boys blow, Romo does not have what it takes to get them there and OC screws up play way too much. Two better NFC teams will keep them out, they played in the NFC championship game last year.

Talent...? Where? They have a talent in Cutler...but, he's prone to boneheaded throws. Then again, considering that he has NO PROTECTION from his line or any run support...it would explain his numbers last year. Here's hoping the line is improved this year and that Taylor and Forte can help balance the offense and not make it so predictable.

As for defense...the lovely Cover 2 that Smith likes to call would work if there was a pass-rush. Too bad they could not sack a QB even if there was no O-line protecting him last year.

This year...hopefully, Peppers lives up to his contract and Harris actually remembers how to play and what a QB looks like. If that can happen, the Bears will be okay.

And oh, if anyone has found Hester's football IQ...please let us know. Because he can't play WR and returner anymore. He must be confused...
