somebody wanna explain this to me. they were discussing it on a podcast this morning and i didnt pay much attention to it untill this morning.

i know that MVP is not completely based on stats and has alot to do with the value the player has to the team as a whole. but that can be argued with many quarterbacks.
and im not making this a manning vs. brees debate.. b/c there were also 4 other quarterbacks with a better QB rating than manning.

without trying to slander my own team here... if you take manning away from the colts. they still win 8+ games.

you take brees away from new orleans.. we win 5 or 6 and join tampa and detroit in the bottom of the bowl... =/ sad but true

just wondering what they base the votes on?
i also thought favre woulda beat him out to with the season he's giving his team.

Peyton Manning (2009 MVP)
TDS 33
INT 16
YDS 4,500
RTG 99.9
Record 14-2
Set Record For League MVPs in a Career

Drew Brees (2009 Offensive player of the year)

TDS 34
INT 11
YDS 4,388
RTG 109.6 NO
Record 13-3
Set new Season Completion % Record

i doubt they'll win more than 4 games without manning. Have you see backup qb play? He got the mvp votes because if he played the whole last 2 games, they'd go undefeated. For me, chris johnson should have getting the mvp award. Not a lot RB can get to 2k yards.

It was him, not so much Young, that helped the Titans reverse their early season woes.

@RockStar: Colts go undefeated if Peyton plays every game. Colts lose when Peyton doesn't play. Saints lost with Bree's at QB. Thats all I can think of. Personally CJ should of got IMO. But i like rooting against Peyton.

most people dont even know we have mark brunell as a backup..

he played one game this season and he was remarkably terrible

i pray that brees never gets hurt before we draft a nice prospect quarterback.

brees did lose a game starting.. he just stayed in to finish
peyton also would have lost week 16 when he started.. but he sat the bench the second half so they take the blame off him.

i get what your saying though. makes sense

Brees won SN POTY

http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/arti...ve-player-year

I think CJ was DQ'ed because of the team record. A lot of the voters tie team record to votes. Ironically in MLB Andre Dawson just got into the HOF and his lone MVP year was the only year a last place team had the MVP.

I think some voters picked Manning because they had no running game. They were dead last while NO was 6th.

Clearly that wasn't your intention since you were chastising him for not saying he wasn't going to play in the Pro Bowl.

I'll let you reread your own post:

I read in a newspaper article that the last QB to lead the league and passing and win a Super Bowl in the same year was Johnny Unitas in 1959. Hard to believe...

Well, considering what team I root for, my hatred for anything Vikings (and Packers...but, they choked against the Cards, yay!!) is obvious...

I'd like nothing better than to see Peterson fumble 12 times and Favre sacked 4 times per quarter just to remind him that he needs to flipflop his way back to retirement.

I agree.

I can't wait for sunday 8 AM HST when my beloved Cowboys hopefully man up against Brett and his band of merrimen. Here's hoping he has 3 INTs and AP has 2 fumbles OTW, if Favre plays anything like he did the first 13 games we are in for a long day.

I'll let you reread your own post:
he was asked the question. "will you be playing in the pro-bowl reguardless of the outcome of the games in the next couple weeks?" on the NFL network a few weeks back.

he replied. "its something i'd like to do reguardless of where we are, but we'll see"

sooooo.. quit trying to justify your pointless remark.
excuse me for not giving a background on every post, normally i'd say my bad, but in this case you just sound bitter. so :tonguefaw

Bitter about what? Your bumptiousness?

Congrats Saints. I would have liked to see the Cardinals do better after getting beat by them, but I wasn't expecting much.

The officials are making it impossible for the Ravens to win. And, Dierdorf's love for the Manning and the Colts is quite sickening.

what a disappointing loss for Baltimore

anyways about the league MVP..... CJ was playing all those games where the Titans lost 6 straight wasn't he? wouldn't have really helped if he was/wasn't playing those 6 games.

looks like confidence doesnt trump a good ol' fashioned rest week.

vikings are only up by 2 touchdowns but it could be much worse.

its a shame too, we wanted another shot at dallas.

Man we must be related. Hate Dallas, Favre makes me want to gouge my eyes out with whiskers toenail clippings.

Of the two, glad the cowboys got that ass-whooping.
Hope the Saints can pull it off next week
