Lamest year ever if pre-season rankings mean anything. The number of top 10 teams playing more than two ranked opponents is very low. OU’s hardest game on paper is Texas, and Clemson plays literally no one after Georgia this week.
Oh well. Gig ‘Em, Aggies! (Our schedule is light AF too besides alabama.)

Calzada looked like a completely different person vs Alabama compared to his previous games, maybe because everybody expected A&M to lose big and he had no pressure whatsoever. When he threw 3 completed passes in a row, I was literally like WTF is going on!? If only he played like that during the first few games...

I lived in Ohio in the mid/late 90's when Michigan had Ohio's number. I don't really have a dog in that fight but I've seen first hand what it means to the fans of each of those teams. I'm glad to see Michigan get the W this time. Ohio has had their number for many years now, and I know the Michigan fans will remember this for a lifetime.

I had to watch a recording of it tonight - there were moments when I think Georgia won in spite of refs best efforts to thwart them.
I especially liked the "fumble" where the ref was like, "The ruling on the field is a fumble recovered by Alabama. If it's not that, then it's intentional grounding. If not that, holding, if not that, unsportsmanlike conduct, and if not that, we're going to call his mama ugly."
Since I recorded it I was also fairly attuned to the number of commercials. I counted them - 111 give or take between kickoff and the end. I think Lily from AT&T is the MVP, as she got the most camera time.

UT and OU move to SEC
UCLA and USC move to Big ten

USC, UCLA to Join the Big Ten, Accelerating College Football’s Consolidation
June 30, 2022
The University of Southern California and UCLA are leaving the Pac-12 Conference to join the Big Ten, a blockbuster defection that accelerates a dramatic, money-driven consolidation of college sports.
The Big Ten’s Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted unanimously on Thursday to add USC and UCLA for the 2024-25 academic year, marking another big leap toward a world in which the biggest brands in college sports compete in just two powerful conferences—the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten. This latest seismic realignment began last year, when Texas and Oklahoma said they would leave the Big 12 Conference by no later than 2025 to join the SEC.
The move by USC and UCLA to the Big Ten will severely hobble the West Coast-based Pac-12, which has long been one of the premier conferences in college sports. USC and UCLA are two of the Pac-12’s most decorated schools athletically and they reside in its largest media market. The winners of the Pac-12 and the Big Ten traditionally played each other in the Rose Bowl most years.

Over the last 10 years UCLA has the 7th best win percentage (so not even in the top half) and USC 3rd (as of 2020). It's not like they are dominating the Pac-12. And they want to play in the Big Ten? Of course they wanted them in. Big name schools that will bring TV audiences (and money) that the real powers in that conference can whoop up on to keep them in the BCS conversation. Or maybe Buckeyes and Wolverines were not getting enough Californians in their diet.

TCU was a great story getting there, but when you don't have a dog in the fight all you hope to see is a competative game and this was not even close. Michigan would have put up a better fight.
Unfortunately this may hurt future teams (like TCU, who don't rise to that level often and have a "Cinderella" type season) getting into the playoffs.

That was awful. I was actually excited going in after how they handled Michigan. Ended up turning it off at the half.

12 is ridiculous. It should be 6 max. None of these team below deserve any shot at the championship
(7) Clemson 11-2
(8) Utah 10-3
(9) Kansas State 10-3
(10) Southern California 11-2
(11) Penn State 10-2
(12) Washington 10-2

9-8 Jacksonville gets to go. 8-9 Bucs get to go as well. So I think "deserve" can get fluid sometimes. IMHO six teams doesn't fix the problem, which is the same 6-7 teams will now and forever always be in that pool. Maybe every few years you'd get a TCU thrown in there. I actually think maybe 8 is a better number, but I won't complain about 12. NCAA Basketball get 64 and they manage to sort it out. I suspect at some point they had to expand large enough to get the support required. A lot of folks out there looking to get their share of the money. I suspect in the end it was all about that.

Recently it might feel like it's been the same teams but it always changes over time.
2000s was USC Texas Miami Oklahoma Florida
90s were Nebraska Florida St Michigan Tennessee
80s were Miami Penn St Notre Dame

Conference winners are usually at the very top of the rankings anyway so that's kinda a mute point.

What 12 teams is inviting is the chance for a Cinderalla team to win it all, not unlike the NCAA BB tournament. I personally think that makes for a more exciting tourney than just watching Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Notre Dame, and maybe LSU/Cemson over and over and over again....If lesser tiered teams don't ever have a shot, why would any of the recruits go there? Expecially if more money gets involved. I think a broader entry into the tourney will help keep some kind of parity out there. Otherwise I think there is a real risk of only having like 6-8 teams that are ever competative.

Well the problem you have now because youre moving to 12teams is youre guaranteed to have Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Notre Dame, and maybe LSU/Cemson over and over and over again. They never fall out of the top 12
This is all about money and has nothing to do with football sadly

12 teams is only four rounds with byes for top 4 teams.
NFL plays four rounds with bye for top 4 teams.
HS football in Texas plays 6 rounds in playoffs.
This is how football is played.
