NBA: 2016 Off-Season News and Discussion Thread
Well, congrats again to the long-suffering city of Cleveland!
And now, off-season to begin. And well, I can look forward to how my Bulls will suck come Fall.

Do you give up the hometown son in Rose, or let Butler walk this season? It seems Noah is gone regardless.

End of an era...all that potential...poof. Injuries and then, some misguided judgments and etc. I admit to being a huge D-Rose fan...but, now...not much. Anyways, hope he does well in NY. But, c'mon...over/under to when he gets injured? I'd give it 2 games.

^ Yeah...I'm happy for the city of Cleveland...if there's one city that's seen some heartbreak in sports, that city would be it.

It's funny how much of an effect one event can have on a city. People are taking notice that the Indians are in first place in their division with one of the best pitching staffs in the AL and starting to wonder if they might be able to go far this year too. Didn't hear much of that talk before Sunday.

Rose, Carmelo, and Porzingis looks good on paper but which Rose and Melo do you get? 2 big time injured guys.
But the bigger news is that Lebron already saying he's staying in Cleveland for a year right before going in his parade float. How courteous to commit in a timely manner this time around so that your team can plan. Wish he would've done the same a couple of summers ago.

You have to keep in mind SI projected them to win the World Series last year before their offense promptly collapsed and they had an average season at best. That skepticism isn't there right now though.

'Melo is just gonna chuck regardless. I don't think he cares any more of championships or accolades. He got his pay day.

They'll be alright. They still have a great point guard in Schroder who is only 22 and not anywhere in his prime, yet. I'm actually curious as to how that will work out for Teague. Monta really likes having the ball in his control when he can, & PG13 has already shown he'll do most of the work for the team when he gets on a points roll.
Other news, Dwight Howard interested in the Knicks. And, a little rumor claiming Utah & Hayward are possibly parting ways by trade, potentially with Boston. Jazz sources claim it isn't true, which I don't expect it to be; he's been a great player for them.

Like Rick says. when you have Schroder who is only 22 and shown alot of promise, its hard to keep him on the bench. Teague has been on and off this season and was very inconsistent last year. Schroder is very feisty and brings more energy to the Hawks. Maybe the Bulls shouldve dealt for him vs sending D-rose to NY.

From what I read after posting, Hayward has the same respect for the Jazz. All of this seemed to have come from Boston wanting to initiate a trade & Utah said hell naw.

You know would make a interesting trade, would be Hayward and future 1st round picks for Blake Griffin. I think that would be the missing key for the Clippers. but i can't remember if he can play D though.

I thought Phil was leaving NY..... There were also rumors saying he was coming back to the Lakers...
Can we let Jeanie Buss take over now?

Hayward is one of the most underrated defenders. He can ball, but one knows because he plays in Utah

I'm happy the Bulls got what they did but I think NY will regret this trade. Then, there's D-Rose's health issues.

I don't see how it will work. And no, I'm not trying to come across as a bitter D-Rose hater but we all know he loves to shoot...he's a shoot-first PG and after his injuries, his shot has kinda been crap. So, if he's taking his usual 28ish per game, along with Melo who is always me-me-me-me-me...I don't see how the Knicks "fantasy" line-up will work.

But with D-Rose, the expectation is just to finish 1 season without injury first.

If D Rose can still penetrate, big if, then they can open it up for Melo and Porzingis. Ditto for Melo penetrating. The tricky part is making sure you don't limit Porzingis to a jump shooter only a la Chris Bosh or Kevin Love. If D Rose can hit mid range and penetrate like Wade and Melo can be a poor man's expensive Lebron (he has the skill in theory) then the team will be challenging to play. Either way I'll def check out more Knicks games. As a Heat fan, it's fun when they're good.

Well, who knew we could take an NBA thread and give it an NWS turn.
