I feel bad for Varejao, though. That dude gave 12 seasons to Cleveland, 2 Finals with LeBron, and now has to watch them celebrate a franchise win from outside.

WOWWW!! What a game!! I didn't care who won either way, but I was internally cheering for the Cavs.

And you're right, it does suck for Varejao - butttt he still gets a ring! He played enough games with the Cavs this season before being traded that he'll get a ring, too.

I thought that at first, but it's not true. He'll only get a ring if Gilbert wants to get him one.
Since the Warriors clinched their spot in the NBA Finals, a fun note to share has been that Varejao was now “guaranteed” a championship ring. This is false. If the Warriors win, he gets one. If the Cavs win, he’s not guaranteed anything. Dan Gilbert and the Cavaliers could choose to give him a ring based on his decade-plus of service to the team and the fact that he was on the team until February, but would you expect Dan Gilbert to do the right thing? This is the guy who… well… he traded Anderson Varejao in the first place.

Pleeeaaasse. As if Warrior fans weren't getting hyped with all the Bulls' comparisons having a 73-9 season, that it somehow meant they're the greatest team of all time.

Now it's meaningless record. Ya'll the '07 Patriots of the NBA.

Please, explain what good that record does after tonight. Oh, you have the best NBA record of all time? But you blew a 3-1 Finals lead with home advantage? Then who cares.

tons of people care. lets see how long is it going to take for a team to break that record? and you can thank the refs for the past few games and having lebron crying to NBA to get Green suspended made a lot of difference

There it is. Yes, the refs made you lose 3 straight games to win the championship.
Maybe if Green wasn't going around slapping Adams' nuts, he wouldn't accumulated so many fouls to get him in trouble.

Nope, but maybe I should be. Only player in NBA history to lead everyone in points, rebounds, assists, steals, & blocks. Congrats to your Warriors' for boosting LeBron's legacy because that's all your historic record will be remembered for.

As a fan of a pro team that won every single game they played that season except the very last one I'd say its meaningless if you couldn't win when it mattered the most. Maybe the actual players who did it care but fans see it as a sports blooper

I didn't say anything about them not breaking any records. I said your regular season record is meaningless because you didn't close it out with a win. Steph literally choked.

The only positive out of your team losing is finding some new respect for Green. I hate watching him play, but he's the only dude who brought it for the Warriors and gave congrats & props to Cleveland for being the better team. Ate his words for his boasting during the season & being humble about not closing out. Meanwhile, Curry, Klay, & Speights spent the series taking shots at LeBron and didn't do anything meaningful, esp. for a 2-time MVP.

Now people can't say Lebron needed Wade/Riley to get a ring outside of Miami. Huge weight off his shoulders. I never cared how he left Miami but man I enjoy watching him play, amazing player and he really brought it. Anyways he needed Wade/Riley to get 2 rings Much respect for Kyrie Irving. Totally legit to question if Warriors win it last year if Irving doesn't go down. Dude's game is crazy. His slippery moves, excellent handle, and partially the reason Steph's Finals were meh vs his regular season.

Speaking of Steph, do we blame nerves or that injury, or the defense on him? If him or Klay break 20, the conversation is different. Shame both splash bros were off. And Harrison Barnes GTFO. Team was so sloppy and those fast break 1 on 4 3 pointers stopped dropping several games back. Not the most efficient basketball I've seen. It worked in the regular season and some of the playoffs but I think that switch turned off last series. So close but so many missed opportunities.

There was an article floating around about this where they asked Gilbert, and he said he'd give him a ring if Varejao said he wanted one.

I don't watch much of the NBA (I prefer college), but I did watch the Finals and the Cavs played a great series. LeBron and Kyrie literally put the team on their backs and carried them to the title. I'm glad that Game 7 ended up being close, especially since these teams traded blowouts at the start of the series. It feels good to have our first title in more than 50 years, now the hard part, doing it again.

he has some sick hands and his ball control is just amazing... he won last night's game with that 3 and had been solid all series... LeBron's free throw just helped give them some cushion for the last possession... i'm going to be getting a Kyrie jersey...

Hilarious that the owner would say that the city and the fans deserve this victory, after they were burning LBJ's jerseys in the street and then jumped back on his D when he came back to town... talk about bandwagoners

I'm happy for Cleveland that they finally won something, but they did not disappoint by rioting and breaking shit

Looked to me like he tried to break his fall with his wrist and it slipped out from underneath him. It was hard to see what exactly caused it.

Really? I only question it because of how poor the offenses were in the last 4 minutes. The box score in the fourth quarter was 18-14. Going in to the 4th with only one point margin sets up a historic finally, but it just wasn't that exciting to me. Good game, but I'm not sure about great. The whole series was pretty "meh".

While GSW certainly will go down in stat books and record books/pages.....the story will be Cavs to tell and the legacy will be that GSW came up short...like the 2007 Pats or the 2001 Mariners.

But at the end of the day which would team you rather be?

October, 2001 - Mariners or Diamondbacks?

Feb, 2008- Patriots or Giants?

June, 2016 - Warriors or Cavs?

I think the choice is pretty clear. (Again not to take away the records that the Mariners or the Pats did in the regular season...but if it's not capped off with the ultimate win....it's not nearly as memorable and the story aint so great.)

Yeah the last few minutes was embarrassing no one could make shit. Kyrie made that 3 and Bron bron made 1 FT and that was it. Everyone else sucked. It was a crazy finals because GS was inconsistent, there were games where the Cavs had great D but others where Curry just sucked. Live by the three die by the three I guess...

I agree that the 4th quarter wasnt the best offensive basketball but a Game 7 with 20 lead changes and 11 ties is crazy. The largest lead of the night was GS up 7

Huh? There was only one incident that I've heard of, and it was pretty minor, a cop car was damaged in the middle of the crowd. The city was actually really well behaved.

Just for reference going back the last 10yrs, game 7 in the finals has alway been low scoring

2016: Cavs vs Warriors 93-89
2013: Heat vs Spurs 95-88
2010: Lakers vs Celtics 83-79
2005: Spurs vs Pistion 81-74

It was a close game, and as you pointed out, the closest scoring in recent history. Just saying the back and forth baskets at the end are what make a game really great.
