So no comments on him being selfish for still playing despite his pathetic physical condition?

Absolutely. He is selfish and the biggest disgrace of an athlete next to TO. But, at least TO doesn't appear to cheat...

Mind you, AD, you could argue that Bonds' presence in the lineup gives SF an edge...His ability to get on base (either through walks) or just his ability to hit that HR gives the Giants that added offense to otherwise a pop-gun lineup...?

They pitch around him because he's a liability once he gets on base as much as they do out of fear of the homer.

What can he do defensively? Nothing.

Well, he diverts the fans' attention which in turn takes the focus away from his teammates and allows them to do their job better and thus, better defence.

He is a liability on the field and on the bases since he can't run, that is why once he breaks the record he should retire and get on with his life or request a trade to the American League..Manny for Bonds trade??

Babe Ruth for second place, I don't want him to touch Aaron's record.

Yeah, as long as he beats the white guy, right?

And do people really think it's right for him to play up until he hits the record, then collapse? Even if it means he brings the team down until that point?

Speaking of the signs the fans are holding up out of respect for Barry, here are some other gems:

- Hey Barry. Move Your Head. We Can't See.
- For Sale: Life-Sized Bobblehead. See Leftfield
- Cheater

I'm curious to see how much revenue Barry brings to the Giants. I think they love him, not because he really does shit for the team, but because he brings money to the ballpark.

I think he should have retired a long time ago

Not necessarily that, but he has come this far might as well complete it. I don't think him not playing will have that negative effect on the Giants since he didn't play at all last year and less media frenzy would be great for the young kids they have. I'm just sick of all this Bonds b.s. that just to have him surpass Babe and retire would be a blessing for Baseball.

Keep in mind you white guys still have Hockey

Did anyone else read the excerpts in Sports Illustrated from the book that the guys that investigated him wrote?? It was an issue from a few months ago.

Unless your naive, that pretty much covered everything that's being discussed in this thread. From the steroids to the racism and everything in between. If you haven't read it you should, I read the whole thing and they did a very good job I thought with presenting their evidence and making all these assumptions that have been brought up seem pretty accurate.

I saw Pierre rob him also. And the Cubs loss, well..........meh

And like it or not, if A-Rod stays on pace he is going to own the career record. I wouldn't be surprised if he hit 800

I think Pujols has the best shot.. dude is a monster and so clutch..

What would be even better this year is if.. in the same year that Bonds passes Ruth.. Pujols shatters Bonds 73 hr..

Here's another great example of why he either should just quit or become a pinch hitter
even the manager is makeing up excuses for him

Instead, Bonds blew a play in the outfield and failed to run out a popup that Jeff Kent dropped during the Giants' 6-1 loss to ...
....
"We know he has a lack of range," Giants manager Felipe Alou said. "He didn't play last year. He's not 100 percent in shape right now, and he's going to be 42. I don't know many 42-year-olds who have good range."
...Julio Franco

He doesn't run out pop flies, now any other team if you do that you are benched, take a look at what Frank Robinson does.

Talking How to fix the Bonds problem? Nolan Ryan...

http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn...c.php?t=106307

Nolan Ryan could end this Bonds-Selig debacle
July 6, 2006

OK, let me get this straight. Barry Bonds' trainer, Greg Anderson, gets thrown in the hoosegow for refusing to testify to a Federal Grand Jury investigating whether Barry Bonds perjured himself in a previous Grand Jury testimony.

Then, in another corner of the courtroom, there is Anderson attorney Mark Geragos, scheming for a way to keep Anderson out of jail while he works on yet another appeal.

Please, go find another Scott Peterson already. This is ridiculous. It's over, Barry. Admit it, get on with it and we'll be done with it.

Seriously, at this point, who cares? Stand up and admit you took steroids because baseball didn't give a damn for years. And now that it does, you're the scapegoat. Hell, in our enabling, pandering society, you'll be the victim and most certainly eventually be canonized.

And Bud Selig? He'll step down in shame because he didn't make it perfectly clear and beyond the shadow of a doubt that cheating isn't allowed in baseball.

My fantasy: Nolan Ryan throwing out the first pitch in next week's All-Star game, walking over to Bonds and just flat out going Robin Ventura on him. Then walking over to Selig's box and doing the same.

And moments later, walking to mound at PNC Park, grabbing a microphone and yelling, "Play ball!"

Post Report: Bonds friend is key witness against him

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2517203

One of Barry Bonds' longtime friends is a key witness against him as the federal government ponders perjury or tax-evasion charges against the San Francisco Giants slugger, Bonds' lawyer told The New York Times.

Michael Rains, Bonds' lawyer, said memorabilia salesman Steve Hoskins, a longtime friend of Bonds, and Kimberly Bell, Bonds' former girlfriend who has twice testified against him before a grand jury, are the government's two main witnesses.

The New York Daily News reported Tuesday that Major League Baseball officials expect Bonds to be indicted on perjury and tax evasion charges.

Though the officials told the Daily News they have no inside knowledge of the grand jury's proceedings, they said they expect an indictment as early as next week, as the grand jury that has been hearing evidence against Bonds in San Francisco is due to expire in the next few weeks.

Baseball sources also told the Daily News they conducted their own investigation into Bonds last year and found evidence of wrongdoing.

Hoskins and Bonds sold Bonds' sports equipment and collectible lithographs through Hoskins' company.

Rains told The Times that Bonds went to the federal government in June 2002 to complain that Hoskins was forging his name and stealing from him. The government then "turned around and used" Hoskins as an informant, Rains told the newspaper.

Hoskins' attorney, Michael Cardoza, disputed Rains' assertion to The Times, however.

"We made no deal with the feds," Cardoza told The Times. "We cut no deal with anybody. All we did was tell the truth and protect Steve and prove to them that Barry is not a truth-teller." Cardoza wouldn't tell The Times whether his client was called to testify before the grand jury investigating Bonds.

Bonds' personal trainer, Greg Anderson, was held in contempt of court last week and taken to prison for refusing to testify to the grand jury. Anderson served three months in prison last year after pleading guilty for his role in the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative steroid scandal.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

They want to charge him with something so bad, they will try and prosecute him for littering or something. Just drop it, get it over it and move on people. Wasting time and money for nothing. What are they gonna do if he's convicted, they'll give him an outrageous fine and call it the day..F*n gov't..

You can't lie under oath. Even McGwire, Sosa (no Englais senor), Palmeiro (oops), Clinton understand this.

Oh, totally...if you read my posts in the baseball threads, I absolutely agree that players like McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro should be forever blacklisted and even from the HoF if they ever become eligible.

I think the League should absolutely re-test players like Giambi and Sheffield.

I don't think you have quite a grasp about how widespread steroid use was in this game the last 10 years. I'm serious when I say i'm pretty confident well over half of the players were taking some form.

Actually, I believe you...

You probably wouldn't shock me if you told me even 75% of the sprinters, NFLers, MLB players, NBA players, and NHL players are on some sort of juice.

The need to compete and get that contract is unbelievably high. The star that doesn't perform up to par is yesterday's news and on waivers...Sadly, I don't know if there is ever going to be a way to catch all the cheaters as the enhancement drugs are always one-step ahead...

The thing is do you think its wise to spend so much time and money on this, where it can be spent on real criminals. It aint like these roid freaks didnt make tons of money for their perspective teams. It's just enough already, they need to find another cause for their electoral votes
