Didn't even know the game was on earlier

Watched the whole thing last night, sucked seeing Jeter get hurt. I did something very similar playing shortstop, just going the other way.

Well since the NHL is dead for now, I am going to the game tomorrow night.

Pro'ly attend about half dozen MLB games per season max.

Thought this was crazy

Quote:
When the Yankees lost to Detroit in Game 2, not a single player they drafted and developed accounted for any of their 34 plate appearances or any of the 27 outs they obtained. Second baseman Robinson Cano was signed as an international free agent. Everybody else who took an at-bat or retired a batter was obtained through free agency or a trade.

Scariest thing is they have gotten very good pitching (imho their weakness) but still virtually no offense.

I still have hope but am discouraged.

I'm sick just thinking about it. I've never seen a more predictable manager in my life. You should hear some of the fair weather fans around here..."he got us 97 wins, you should be happy with that!"

I could rant for an hour, but nobody wants to hear it.

Anyways, Verlander was a monster last night. Nothing much more to say about it.

Read today that if the Cards make it to the WS they're thinking about adding Westbrook and/or Berkman to the roster.

A Rod & Granderson benched.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon...ame-4/1639817/

5:31PM EDT October 17. 2012 - DETROIT -- The highest-paid player in baseball is on the bench yet again.

Third baseman Alex Rodriguez is not in the New York Yankees' lineup for tonight's Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. He also did not play in the Yankees' 2-1 loss in Game 3 on Tuesday night.

Rodriguez, who has a $29 million salary this season, is just 3-for-23 (.130) with 12 strikeouts in the postseason, including 0-for-12 with nine strikeouts against right-handers. Detroit is starting righty Max Scherzer.

Rodriguez also was bench for Game 5 of the AL Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles and has been pinch-hit for in three other postseason games.

A-Rod's replacement is Eric Chavez, who is 0-for-14 in the postseason. He is batting sixth in the lineup.

Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson is also out of the lineup for Game 4. He is 3-for-29 (.103) with 15 strikeouts in the postseason.

The Yankees have scored just 21 runs in eight postseason games and manager Joe Girardi continues to shuffle his batting order.

Yankees' Game 4 lineup

1. Ichiro Suzuki, LF

2, Nick Swisher, RF

3. Robinson Cano, 2B

4. Mark Teixeira, 1B

5. Raul Ibanez, DH

6. Eric Chavez, 3B

7. Russell Martin, C

8. Brett Gardner, CF

9. Eduardo Nunez, SS

Derek Jeter to have surgery Saturday

http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon...er-20/1639717/

6:43PM EDT October 17. 2012 - DETROIT -- New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter will undergo surgery on his broken left ankle Oct. 20 and will need four to five months to fully recover, the team announced Wednesday, jeopardizing his start to the 2013 season

Jeter broke his ankle in the 12th inning Saturday night in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers, and, according to one of Jeter's confidants, was already playing with a stress fracture that required cortisone shots. The Yankees originally announced he would need three months to recover but now say it will be at least a month or two longer.

Jeter, 38, still is hoping to be ready for the start of next season, and the Yankees say they have no plans to find a replacement. If he's unable to play or is limited at the start of the season, New York is comfortable having Eduardo Nunez fill in as necessary.

"There's no new information, he just wanted to be more conservative with it,'' general manager Brian Cashman said,. "It's possible he may be earlier in that time period, but four to five months is a safer bet.

"I believe in four to five months, he'll be ready to play for us."

Jeter's broken ankle likely will keep him from playing in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, which will be managed by former Yankees manager Joe Torre.
