In all seriousness, I'd be happy if the Sabres win it all...

One of my all time favorite players. I was huge Hawks fan back in the day.
Before I came to my senses and they dropped all their good players.

Got a New GM:
FROM TSN:
PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - It is now Ray Shero's task to rebuild the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Penguins on Thursday named Shero, the assistant general manager of the Nashville Predators, their new GM and signed him to a five-year contract.
Shero is replacing Hall of Famer Craig Patrick, who was fired after nearly 17 years on April 20.
Under Patrick, the Penguins won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991-92 but have stumbled since reaching the Eastern Conference finals five years ago. This past season, they went 22-46-14 for the worst record in the Eastern Conference despite the presence of star rookie Sidney Crosby.
"My family and I are very excited to come to a great hockey town like Pittsburgh and become a part of the Penguins organization," Shero said. "Everyone in the hockey world knows about the Penguins' young talent, and the tremendous potential that we have here. I'm looking forward to working with the players, coaches and staff - and I can't wait to get started."

FROM EKLUND:
Shero and Chiarelli have one thing in common. They are sharp as tacks and work like dogs and they are both anointed by the NHL as guys who get the new system. As one agent said to me, "Shero is at more arenas than almost anyone in hockey watching games." With Giguere taking the Colorado job, that leaves the Islanders and Bruins jobs to be filled. The Bruins may be able to get Chiarelli, but as Kevin writes below, it is hard to believe it would cost any less, especially if Shero got what he wanted in Pitt. The problem with the Pittsburgh job is that until the sale foes down it is potentially a one year gig. The fact that Shero took the job so quickly may imply that the Penguins sale may be getting very close, and perhaps may have given their blessing to Shero..this is all just speculation on my part based on what I know of the inner workings in Pittsburgh...The group that is closest to closing that deal is a group that would guarantee the team stays in Pittsburgh. So that may be great news fro Pens fans.

Not to mention that all that young talent would come cheap. The Penguins could have a real problem down the road when all the young up and comers start commanding the bigger bucks.

pittsburg really is going to be the best team in the league as long as they are able to hold onto everyone. They have young talent in all of the key positions. They will have 2 #1 centers in malkin and crosby, ryan malone, orpik will be good, fluery will be one of the best goalies in the league, and johnson will be one of the best d-man in the league. If they hold onto everyone they will be a dynasty.

Leafs, McCabe agree to contract
Canadian Press
5/31/2006 3:46:42 PM
TORONTO (CP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to a five-year deal with defenceman Bryan McCabe, a source told The Canadian Press.
The deal is worth between $5.5 million US and $6 million per year, the source said Wednesday.
McCabe would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
According to a team spokesperson, the team has not reached an agreement with McCabe, but talks are progressing forward and a deal could happen soon.
Related Info
He earned $3.458 million US last season when he was third among all NHL defencemen in goals (19) and points (68). Both were career highs.
Tomas Kaberle, McCabe's usual defence partner, signed a five-year deal for $4.25 million per season in February.
The Leafs missed the playoffs this season for the first time since 1998. Much of the blame was laid on a January tailspin during which they lost seven of nine games that McCabe missed with a groin injury.
McCabe never wanted to go elsewhere.
"I love it here," the 30-year-old blue-liner said in March. "I want to be here."
McCabe has 95 goals and 243 assists in 781 NHL games. He previously played for the New York Islanders, who drafted him 40th overall in 1993, the Vancouver Canucks and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Chicago traded him to Toronto in October 2000 for Alexander Karpovtsev and Toronto's fourth-round choice (Vladimir Gusev) in the 2001 entry draft.
