Florida Gators = National Champions !!!

First off... congrats to Ohio State for making it to the championship game. Oden played probably the best game of his career. I tip my hat to that team, players & staff... Now...

IT'S GREAT... TO BE... A FLORIDA GATOR.... I SAID...

IT'S GREAT... TO BE... A FLORIDA GATOR.... I SAID...

Back to back NATIONAL CHAMPIONS !!!! First one since Duke in 1991, and only the second in almost 40 years!

*First team EVER to win the Football & Basketball championships in the same calender year.

* First team EVER to have all 5 starters return, and win the title.

I am escatic right now !!!!

Congrats to the Gators

I was rooting for OS, but Florida was nailing everything and Ohio just wasn't. Gotta give the Gators props.

If they weren't having an off night at the perimeter OS would have beat Florida tonight : :

True... most of Floridas points came from outside the arch... most of Ohio States came from inside the paint.

3 Pointers:

Ohio State = 4 out of 23 ---> 17.4%
Florida = 10 out of 18 ---> 55.6%

I never understand when people say this...lets say Auburn wins the national championship this year, or any other SEC team for that matter. Why would you want a team within your same conference winning...you know how many recruits would choose that national title winning team that you'll be competing again come a few months.

^^chances are good that we played them and perhaps even beat them at some point. The strength of schedule rises knowing you played the best team in the nation.

Recruiting is an interesting beast. No kids will come to your school if you have a load of talented Sophmores. A freshman they would never see time. Justa for instance.

Also, the SEC is a tough conference in all sports...for some reason the sports world doesn't think so and typically underrates SEC teams...they beat up on each other all season every season, you never know who's gonna be on top because they are so competitive amongst each other...so when one team makes it out, SEC fans vote for the SEC to give the conference some recognition.

Domination like FSU football in the ACC (well, like it used to be) or Memphis basketball in C-USA does not happen in the SEC...the teams are too good.

I say I am cheering for Florida because I want my conference to do good. I HATE cheering for Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia, but I still want our conference to be represented well across the nation. Also, during the bowl games I want all SEC teams to win, no matter who is playing.

Plus I knew Florida was going to win from the start of the tournament and I think Ohio State was overrated, as is the whole Big 10 in football and basketball..

Another thing about the recruiting.. Florida will always get good talent in both football and basketball.. Auburn also gets really good talent, our program is really under looked some years, mainly because we get hype pre-season then we fail to execute during the season, except 2004 when we got screwed

In the past 5 (or 6) years Auburn has had the best record in the SEC, so even though Florida won the national championship this past year, Auburn is still a great football program and it shows when we get top recruits like we have the past years, this year and in our future commits.

Joakim was the epitome of class and humility during the post-game interview.

Meh, still won some $ on the game (spread, over-under) so I can't really complain. Florida was built to win and they really have an entertaining (and obviously winning) style of play.

I was only off by three on my difference in score prediction!

Go Gators!

I will be heading to Gainesville Friday evening to watch the celebration at 6:30 in the O'Dome. I need some more shirts and polo shirts too!

I am emotionally drained right now. I can't stand being nervous before and during the games any more. I don't know how much longer I can stand of this. Three national championships in two years! Wow!

I agree. I don't understand why other people don't have more of an allegiance to their conference. I always root for all the ACC teams in March unless they are actually playing UNC.

I've never liked Joakim Noah...partly due to the few interviews I have seen with him, he seemed like a real thug that didn't know the least bit about sounding professional. ChrisKelly, you follow UF, whats your insight on Noah. Is he a nice guy or what? Maybe what you say wil change my mind about him.
