Anyone notice the Czechs are thru to the semi's ? Been a bit quite here lately... Where's Junkster ?
Baros again did very well with 2 brilliant goals... 3-0 against Denmark... Czechs still are the only team to have won all their matches...
Moki, who just started immitating Junkster as well and would like to see the Dutch play the Czechs in the finals...

Great tourney this time around...
All the powerhouses are out and we're left with teams that were mid to long shots at the title (except for Portugal, home teams always get a good run in these types of tourneys.
Go Orange!!!

Maradona's family has no regrets
By AP
THE FAMILY of Diego Maradona doesn't regret committing him to psychiatric care for drug rehabilitation because it was a matter of life or death, according to his ex-wife. The former Argentine soccer great is in rehab at a psychiatric hospital in Buenos Aires, where he was placed against his will by the family last month.
"The decision to commit him was taken jointly by the family, because if we didn't, Diego would have died as we had been alerted by the doctors," Claudia Villafane told TV station Telecinco on Saturday.
"The family don't regret it. It was a matter of life or death."
Maradona has been receiving treatment in Buenos Aires since early May, when he was rushed to a clinic for heart and lung problems.
Maradona, an admitted cocaine addict, had been undergoing drug rehabilitation in Cuba for the past four years before he was hospitalized twice after returning to Argentina in April.
Villafane said she felt pity that Maradona was not able to enjoy life, and blamed his situation on his inability to cope with fame.
"He always said that he had been taken to the peak of a mountain (of fame) but, once there, nobody told him what to do," she said.

What a sad ending for a once great footballer. Hopefully its not the ending.

Portugal just wanted it more. The whole team played very cohesively and never let the Dutch get a good opportunity.
Ahhh, there's no one to root for now. Plus, I guess Setantas, the company doing the PPV, found out about Sobo not charging at the door for the games, so tommorow they have to start charging 20 buck a person to watch the game... what bastards, I'm gonna email a complaint to their asses and let them have it.

That second portuguese goal was amazing. So was Figo's shot off the post. ANd that ronaldo has some serious moves when he's got the ball.
Junkster, doesnt espn cover the games?
We've been getting just about every game on regular cable up here in Canada on our espn equivalenet, TSN. They actually pick up the english broadcast which is quite good.

No, some of the games and their reruns are covered by Fox Sports World. I guess Setantas has the PPV rights to this tourney... horrid. Yea, that goal by Maniche was incredible.
I don't like Christiano Ronaldo so much... he's portuguese AND he plays for Man U!!!
Junkster, who thinks the Canadians are lucky to get all the games

Paying to watch? That's the first I've heard of that.

Pretty dead on, if I say so myself.
Junkster, who can't imagine Totti ever being considered a great player again

Greece?! What a surprise!!!
They were nearly outclassed and out played in most of their games, but they just came through with just what they needed.
Well, olympic soccer is a joke for me (yea, mostly under-23 kids), so it's a long wait till 2006 WC.

Expert verdict: France
Carlos Queiroz knows all about coaching at the highest level from his time with Portugal's youth teams, the senior Portugal and South Africa national sides, leading Real Madrid CF and assisting Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United FC. Now he gives euro2004.com the lowdown on all 16 UEFA EURO 2004™ contenders, looking here at holders France.
I agree with anyone that says France are favourites to win the tournament especially if Thierry] Henry, [Zinedine] Zidane and Patrick Vieira are fully fit.
Superb team spirit
They have all the skill, organisation, individual talent and selection options as, say, the Spanish team but at an even higher level. Not only in terms of quality but also in terms of quantity - they have even more players with greater experience and plenty of international success. They are incredibly mature in big competitions and have a superb team spirit.
Cult of success
France have built a cult of success around their recent international wins and the French are keen on reminding everyone else how successful they are. That becomes obvious by watching their body language on the pitch. That self-esteem, that level of self-confidence, the belief in their own capacity are very difficult to shake down when things are going their way.
Negative factors
Therefore, I am convinced that at least theoretically they are outright favourites in terms of their players and their record. I am not counting factors such as the fact they are playing away from home, the fatigue of a hard season and so on. If these elements combine, then France are beatable. But in my option, France are definitely the favourites.

Probably NOT going to go unbeaten again, and the title is going to be harder than ever with chelski and man utd making so many moves. But I live and die an Arsenal supporter, looking forward to it.

As for Euro 2004, I feel quite disappointed.
I was looking forward to this competition for quite some time and followed it religiously along with my Cubbies (WHO GOT SWEPT BY THE DAMN BREWERS!!! :sqntfawk::sqnteek:, but swept the Sox) I expected better. Take absolutly NOTHING away from Greece, their defence did a fantastic job. Prevented France(is that possible ), the unbeaten Czechs, and of course Portugal from scoring. Congrats .

Hey, tough seasons happen to alot of teams... especially when there's two other teams essentially buying all the talent in the league. Yea, financially, we're lookin' at hits for the next few years if it don't turn around quickly. I'm hoping (okay, prayin' to the Almighty daily) that Owen and Gerrard will own up to what they could be.
I feel for Renieri, he got a tough brake. But whatever Chelsea wants, they can buy these days... sick.
Euro was great for the most part... hate Italy, gets knocked out... hate Portugal, lose in the final... the Orange, my fave, make it to semi, great... French get what they deserve for lackluster effort: Priceless.
Junkster, who always feels bad for a Cub fan... at least you ain't the Rockies.
