College Football: 2011 Season News and Discussion Thread

Mods: Please lock this thread if there is already one too many college football threads. The umpteen threads that Professor has made are too specific.

I'll get a question out of the way first:
Is there a way to watch games online.....internationally?
ESPN offers a package but it's a little too pricey. I won't be able to watch all that many games with the time difference.

Wisconsin is going to be tough this year.

Go Bucks!!

Professor 09-03-2011 11:39 AM

I'll try to broaden a bit... college football um good.

invisiblewar 09-03-2011 01:52 PM

Damn I didnt want to make the thread since the preseason thread should of turned into this but...

Auburn better start doing something or else. Alot of "good" teams getting outplayed

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 02:02 PM

Auburn players going to lose their game checks playing like this.

imj0257 09-03-2011 02:04 PM

TCU was overrated cus of their year last year and Baylor is underrated. Utah St over Auburn??? Auburn overrated also cus of last year.

Preseason rankings never mean shit anyways... the shit always gets knocked out of whack. I know SMU is a decent team and even though we are ranked in the top 10 I would not be surprised if we fucked up and lost tomorrow.

BTW 'alot' is two words..'a lot'.

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 02:07 PM

TCU still had the #1 defense the last three years. It's still
Surprising they gave up 50.

cmschmie 09-03-2011 02:18 PM

Auburn is going to pull it out of their ass.

SEC SEC SEC!!

cmschmie 09-03-2011 02:19 PM

Picks for the other big games?

Oregon - LSU

Boise State - Georgia

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 02:26 PM

They put that in the win column they'll have to use brown ink.

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 07:09 PM

I only ask one thing: don't get embarrassed.

There still hasn't been PROOF that Auburn paid Cam, but continue saying this BS.

Anyways, we got lucky pulling out the win. Our defense looked terrible, probably the worst defense I've ever seen at Auburn.

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 07:36 PM

Its something that will be brought up for years. Learn to laugh it off.

CocheseUGA 09-03-2011 08:55 PM

Not going to make it through the whole game, so I say 27-14 Boise final.

Make that 34-14.

Rockstar21 09-03-2011 10:20 PM

I know.. was just messing with you ;)

UGA shit the bed tonight, and LSU looked good against Oregon.

CocheseUGA 09-04-2011 07:56 AM

'Hello, is Kirby there?'

Rockstar21 09-04-2011 10:09 AM

it was the dawg's uniforms..

:ugh:

but Boise is a tough opening game. they'll be fine

invisiblewar 09-04-2011 01:32 PM

Im not so sure about that. If they drop to USC next week at home, it will most likely be a long season for them.

I really liked how Florida looked last night. And I hope we wear those uniforms ALOT more, we never put emphasis on orange.

Professor 09-04-2011 04:35 PM

I'm actually worried about the Georgia game next week. Spurrier might decide to start a man in the concession stand as QB.

imj0257 09-05-2011 01:36 AM

Well, A&M didn't fuck up. I'm happy :)

Holy hell, anyone watching the Maryland/Miami game? I think Maryland's uniforms are the ugliest I have ever scene in the history of sports. No joke.

Rockstar21 09-05-2011 10:08 PM

holy ugly.

crazy end to the game though.

We are borked. We're going to lose to SC, and it's probably not going to be that close. We are thin at three positions, and those three got thinner during the game. Tree has a broken foot. Our defense is still a work in progress, and apparently being able to cover isn't a requirement.

If we're lucky we'll go 7-5 and Richt will be fired the Monday after Thanksgiving.

What if 3-5 after losing to UF.. fire him mid year or let him ride it out? I think it's all but a guarantee that if you lose to USCe he'll be fired.

CocheseUGA 09-06-2011 08:38 AM

He won't be fired mid-year unless we're 0-8. And I disagree with losing to SC would be the trigger. Beating Florida, Tennessee and GT, plus a bowl would be needed, though.

So you're saying you could finish 6-7 with wins over UF, UT, GT and a bowl loss and he'd still be around next year?!

Or are you saying UGA needs to be 9-4 with wins over UF, UT, GT and a bowl win?

The latter. This schedule is so ridiculously easy except for three games.

The problem I have with Richt, and presumably others do as well, is that nothing seems to change. No innovation, and innovation at all the wrong times. The Smith end-around was the only good play call all evening. A draw on 3rd and 11? It's almost clockwork, and never works. 'Oh, they'll never expect the draw here.'

The gameplan always seems to suck, even when we win. Our DBs never can seem to cover.

Reminded me of those racist lawn jockeys that every yard had back in the 1970's... a black face and hands and a ridiculous paint scheme for the uniform.

Yeah, JMO but Richt lost the team a couple years ago.. You're going through what we went with Tuberville, except Richt is still recruiting great.

Thanks to Tubs we currently have 6 upperclassmen on this year's defensive 2 Deep!

UGA will bring in a coach with more passion, that the players will respond to and they'll start winning.

That's probably a fair assessment. Although I can't say if Richt lost the team, because some of who he is got us the recruits he did (Ray Drew is a big example). He's certainly lost a fair share of supporters though.

But based on what the Boise line did, Clowney is going to straight kill Murray.

JMO but he's lost the team.. look how they respond going into the USCe game, and especially after if UGA loses.

Drew grew up liking UGA so that was hardly a huge win.

Aggies looked good. Glad Stanford didn't f-ck up either, this weekend is the Brain Bowl against Duke.

OMG fugliest uniforms ever. I don't care if it's the state flag, looking at those jerseys gave me a headache. I loved all the tweets about the uniforms though, Lebron "Ewwwwwwwwww"

invisiblewar 09-06-2011 09:33 PM

UGAs unis were way worse.
The UMD uniforms werent all that bad after a while.

I dont understand why noone can design a decent looking uniform

Those were terrible too. Boise St. unis weren't half bad. Ducks still have the best unis IMO.

Looks like design wise for football unis Nike>Under Armor

CocheseUGA 09-06-2011 09:59 PM

The only real terrible part of the UGA uni was the helmet.
