I was throwing the ball really well but a few times I either tugged the shit out of it or I didn't put enough on it, resulting in those multi-pin set ups.

You guys are serious bowlers. Me, I'm just a social bowler. A buddy once bowled 29 games in a row. The mofo looked like Popeye the next day. haha. Another buddy has a nasty hook. It starts drifting close to the right side gutter, gets really close to going over, and then ends up hitting around the center pin. He does that with power too. The pins make a loud crash and start flying all over.

29 games in a row? Good God. I've shot 15 or 18 in a row, but never over 20.

Quite a few people like to "hook the lane" like you mentioned. Standing far left, throwing it close to the right gutter, and then having it hook back to the pocket. Personally I don't do that and probably couldn't if I tried. I just play up the right side, I only swing maybe 5 or 8 boards.

BTW, I never mentioned how I did this week in the leagues...

Shot 200-167-202

The team we played, one of the players have the same ball I use (Hy-Road), but he's tipped (I'm conventional, remember?). I asked to use his ball in the last game once we were ahead by a lot. 10th frame I striked out with his ball, but jersey every time. I'm contemplating going tipped now...

Took 7 points, and now in 2nd place. 1st place team and 2nd place team were 1 point away from each other, it was 136 points, 135 points, and us with 132. 1st and 2nd place team played each other this week, 1st place team took 5 points, 2nd place team 2 points, so it's now 1st place 141, us 139, 3rd place 137.

Oh, and I'll be bowling with Scott (Rounder) tomorrow at the LI Commack tourney...

Yes...The USBC uses different lane patterns for how the oil is dropped. Tomorrow's the Route 66 Pattern, and if I remember, it was a tough shot (with my old ball, at least).

Good luck today fellas! Route 66 is hard as fuck. I shot about 50 under average per game when I bowled on it in a tourney. Hopefully you guys do better than that.

Wow I sucked. 189-133-160. Never threw so many 7-opens in my life. Shot was so oily, then we had 9 on the pair, and followed a lane which had 10, so the 2nd game I was totally lost, and 3rd game lanes were burned up. Ugh. Just really frustrating.

I hope you bowl better! Are you friends with any of the mechanics at your local alley? They can probably put that oil pattern down for you late at night if you would like.

Scott it was nice to see you today....I'm so embarrased at my performance today. I could have bowled with my eyes closed and probably would have done better..This alley didn't have the double layered markings for foot placement, only one area about 4 feet into the platform. I stand closer to the edge of the platform and had to create my own markings in my head. My shot was all over the place, couldn't find the right spot, either too much or too little, and the sides (The boards on the right from 1 to, say 8) were WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too oily that anytime I even attempted to go there I slid right into the gutter, whether I tried closing a 10 spare or even throwing the ball out to come back into the pocket. It took me 15 frames before I got a strike. I think I striked 3 times for all three games. I shot scratch 126-123-96 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) By the last game I gave up, which is why the score was so damn low. I either missed it completely, or went right into the nose. I'm so frikkin annoyed...

Anywho, Scott, guess who won?

My bowling buddy

I stayed till the end (8pm), I was her ride to and from the place, so I had to stick around. I'm glad she took it, she deserved it today..

...Not to mention 5 people per lane was way too much, took too long and messed up the lanes badly..

"shot scratch 126-123-96 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)"

Oh my fuck

I told y'all that the shot was hard. I'm really sorry y'all struggled so badly today. Bowling is always a learning experience, even if you are a pro, so you guys have plenty to look forward to down the road.

I'm glad you teammate won! Whoever wrote that check can't write for shit.

yea, hard to get a rhythm when you're waiting 2 minutes between shots. there are more lanes at babylon so maybe it will be 3 guys to a lane next time.

2 minutes? Try 5-7 minutes...I timed it!

Oh, and I have played the Route 66 pattern before and didn't do so great either back then (But I did do better last time than this time)

I bowl with 5 people on each team on Thursday nights. I spend more time sitting on my ass than I do bowling.

Missed practice last night, still did ok.

193-clean 235-clean 215 = 643

Left THREE 9 pins the first game, and a 9 pin and 8 pin the 2nd game. ?

Both opens last night were in the first game, 2nd and 3rd frame.

Two weeks left, we basically have to win one out of 6 games to lock up first, if we didn't already... we only took 5/11, but depending if the 2nd or 3rd place team lost, then we may have locked it up.

Hey guys. figured I'd post in here since I love to bowl. I have a total inferno 16lb with finger tip holes, don't use my thumb. I throw the hook. Average 205. I'll be posting in here more since I know this thread exists now. I have a 15lb plastic ball as well.

Despite the random 8 and 9-pins, you had a nice set!

Leaving a 9-pin on a pocket shot means the 5 pin was offset to the left or right. A flush 8-pin means you came in at too steep of an angle.

Tomorrow night is the last week of league

Welcome L's TL! I look forward to hearing your bowling stores.

9 pin I just get ripped off and it comes in too sharp, 8 pin I think the ball deflects and the 5 pin doesn't carry the 8. I wasn't getting too frustrated, because I'd rather leave that than 10 pins.

Me and the 2nd hi avg. guy were going at it last night, he was like ohhhhhhhh not gonna get it tonite! on my 9 pins, so I clapped when he opened in the 10th. It's fun. He's chasing me at this point.

quick google search:

Did you know there is a "Perfect Strike?" Studies done by the ABC proved there is such thing!

* In a strike hit, especially a perfect strike, the ball only hits 4 pins - 1, 3, 5 and 9.
* The ball must hit the head pin precisely at the center line of the 1, 2, 4, 7 pin row.
* The ball must also strike the 3 pin precisely on the center of the row.
* The ball then continues through the rack to hit the 5 pin at the center of the 5-8 combination.
* The ball must then hit the 9 pin.

Notice that the Percentage of Strikes reaches 100% when the ball enters the pocket on the 17th or 18 board. That should be everyone's goal.

Do you throw 2 handed like Belmonte, or cup it with one hand? Also do you use your thumb for spares?

Nice one.

I don't like him either. He's always talking to the ball when he throws it or running around on the approach.

Walter Ray is now eligible for the Sr. Tour. Bet those guys are happy... and he can still bowl the regular tour events.

Walter Ray is the definition of a man. He shits on everybody.

I was watching ESPN Classic a few months ago and even back in the 80s he was practically teaching people how to bowl.

This is comical. Two weeks left. 11 point weeks. We are up by 21.5 points.

Which means we need to tie one game out of 6 to clinch first. Not even win one

I still have to bowl my ass off to get high average. Gonna be a fun and sad two weeks, as this is my last season in this league. Go out on top!!!!!

Still got 5 weeks to go on thursday... can still finish strong, however.

Shot a shitty 550 yesterday. The other guy shot 605... we are basically tied. I may be up by 0.1... just have to beat him next week. We clinched first as a team.

Damn that's intense man. What happened yesterday? You've been killing it recently.

Thursday night was the last night for us. I shot 194, 188, and then 176 with a 10-pound house ball

It was the last night and nobody really gave two shits about their score except the first through forth place teams that were bowling for position.

Just couldn't string strikes and I left a few splits, it was really really annoying. I will be livid if I lose high average the last week. Just gotta bowl good... the lanes were weird, I got it out, comes light, or cuts thru the nose. Throw it flush, or a tad high, hello 9-pin. Couldn't turkey at all. One of those nights I guess. I was trying to crank too much I guess.

Not sure I wanna do this tourney on saturday, either... eddie won't be there, and I have nobody else to go with. My asshole friend flaked out again, after I told him three weeks ago I wanted to bowl with him. He uses some lame ass "I don't have money" excuse, plus he makes plans every weekend to see his GF... I'm really annoyed at him.

Sounds like bowling isn't working out for you this week man

I really hope you get your shit together and get high average for the league! That would be awesome.

Last week I was throwing the ball really well but the lanes were stupid dry and I could adjust fast enough.

Happens... it was funny listening to the other team curse really loud when they left splits when they had a shot to win. "fffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu". haha. as long as I'm not in the middle of my shot.
