Best golf courses you've played

I recently picked up my clubs last spring and started to play again. Its been since highschool when I played in a few tournaments in San Antonio. I started out rough as any golfer who puts it down for that long will understand. Started shootin high 90's low 100's. Now a year later I'm in the low 80's trying to break into the 70's. Anyways my dad played in a few pro ams and I really enjoyed watching that as a kid cause I got to visit some awesome courses in Texas. Next month I will be playing falconead in Austin and the TPC in San Antonio. Exceptionally nicer and more expensive courses than I've been playing so im pretty pumped.

I haven't noticed to much golf talk in these threads but maybe I misses em.

So what's the best/nicest course you've ever played and would recommend?

Muirfield Village, TPC Sawgrass, Champions Trace, Scioto CC, Arrowhead CC, Stonecreek...just to name a few.

Most of the amazing courses I've played were because of playing in school/qualifiers.

There's a golf thread in sports talk, but not much action in it.

Looked but didn't see it. Searching on my not-so-smartphone sucks sometimes.

Here's the TPC SA link... We'll be on the oaks course

Medinah looks badass. The first pic I saw when I googled it was the putting green. Awesome.

I've been to TPC Sawgrass, never had the chance to play it, but it's one of my favorites

There are three coursed there. IIRC, #3 is the Tournament/Championship course, #1 is the Men's course and #2 is the Ladies course.

Greens on #1 were amazing - like carpet.

The last time I played Scioto CC they were redoing the greens for the senior us open. So the "greens" where just slightly tighter cut fairways.

Still some of the smoothest putting surface I've ran across. Lol

I had a chance to play at the TPC of Boston (interestingly not really near Boston). Played it about a week before the Deutchebank Open - so the greens were like concrete. Also played The Ridge @ Back Brook in NJ - Fazio course - really challenging and beautiful.

My father-in-law had the chance to play at Pine Valley in NJ - He was invited as a guest from a business partner he's done work with. Was just blown away and always talks about how great a course it is, and he's played some top end courses.

I like Tom Fazio courses a lot. Challenging but playable and fun. From my list, The Glen Club in Chicago is one of his and it's great.

Easily Olympic Club in SF.

Second would be my hometown course, La Purisima. For the price, the best deal in golf (IMO). Used as a Q school and LPGA course quite often, and still only $79 riding on the weekend.

I've played Kiawah Island (Ocean), Rock Barn (Robert Trent Jones course), and one of the local country clubs that used to be used for the qualifiers when the Wells Fargo Championship was the Wachovia Open... Firethorne. We were members there for a while too... great course.

Too bad over the last 2 years or so I've completely lost my swing. Went from averaging mid to upper 80's to now where I'm well over 100. Not sure what happened, but definitely do not enjoy it as much since I'm struggling, so only play once or twice a year.

I'm not an avid golfer...but, had a chance to try out a few. The best of the ones I've played at:

- Banff Springs
- Jasper Park Lodge
- Wynn

Like I said, nothing notable per se...but, I enjoyed those 3 immensely.

I'm going here this coming Sunday. I have never been to anything but public courses, so this will be a treat I'm sure.
