apparently, torre forgot what bunting means. there should not have been a game 7 if he his team played a little small-ball. also, ny could've used olerud. of course, by the way they played the last 4 games, it looked like they didn't want it nearly as much anyway. oh well, i don't care either way since i'm hoping the cards win the nlcs and then the ws.

Suspect when everything blows over, Torre will still be there.
Torre is safe, but i think a few players will be shown the door and they absolutely must acquire better starting pitching. One player that will be booted is Kevin Brown. He's not well liked in the clubhouse and really pissed Torre and management off by punching a wall and breaking his hand. Also, Carlos Beltran is at the top of their list for free agenst.

Didn't you people see post #2 in this thread? I already told you that this is the year of the Red Sox. You could of saved yourself a lot of writing if you just listened to me ....................

One of my best friends is a Yankees fan. He made the mistake of calling me up when Rivera was called in to save the game. I guess he thought it was over. While he's on the phone flapping his mouth, the Red sox tie it up. I've had the chance to call him a few times since then......................

sad that the yankees lost but it was a good series...if any team had come back from a 3-0 deficit they definitely deserve to go to the world series

Yeah, yeah, Yeah...bash away...IM A YANKEE FAN WIN OR LOSE...we freaking choked...BIGTIME!
I have no respect for ARod. K Brown should just go retire or hang himself which ever comes first. The series was loss not last night...it was loss when we were up 4-3 with 3 outs left in gm 4.

Red Sox nation you earned this one...what more can I say. Now really go break this curse and win the damn WS. Lets hope its not against Houston. I don't want to picture the "Rocket" ex Red Sox on the mound pitching against you guys gm 7...that will be something to see.

Well at least my Jets are 5-0...who are we playing again this weekend? Shit the Pats!

I think the Yankees are the most hated team in the U.S. but loved worldwide. Except for the RS fans the other half of you don't even know why you don't like the Yankees. Go figure.

Yea, and the rest of the world dosent know why they should like them.

I think most people know. I have my own personal reasons because I lived on LI and was a Mets fan. But I would say the #1 reason why the country hates them is because "the boss" tries to buy World Series championships...But there are plenty of others...

Too me, Cubs = Red Sox... that's why I am cheering for the Sox. I also don't like the Astros nor Cardinals, so I'll be pro-Sox in the WS too.

Down with the one evil empire in June (Lakers).
Down with another evil empire yesterday (Yankees).
Down with the final evil empire on Nov. 2!!!

This is why:

New York Yankees $ 184,193,950
Boston Red Sox $ 127,298,500
Anaheim Angels $ 100,534,667
New York Mets $ 96,660,970

Wanna take a guess at what those numbers are?

$184 million + on just player salaries...

That's just ridiculous...these baseball players get paid way too much to hit a ball with a stick and play catch.

Please, show me something I don't already know. And if the Yankees or the RS didn't spend that kind of money, all you guys will be saying the 2 owners are pocketing all the profits. If you are great at what you do and a different company are offering you market value for your services or you could be stuck working for below market value at your current company you will be packing your bags and moving on too. And if you do follow baseball than you will also know that the Yankees having won shit since this spending spree began.

When Texas broke the bank to sign ARod for 250 million, or the Rockies giving Hampton that 120 million+ contract for a .500 pitcher it totally destroyed the market. That ain't the Yankees fault. The guys that are making the bucks are home grown Yankees...they earn it. It was the Dodgers that offered Brown 15 million per...not NY.

If you already knew this, then you shouldnt have asked why they are the most profitable team. When you spend for some of the more "popular" players, its going to get noticed.

Except for 95 and 98, the Yanks have had the highest payroll for the past 10 years.

Sorry man, this is like poking a wounded animal with a stick. I'll let you go back to your misery...

There is nothing to love about the Yankees unless you're from NY. They don't embody anything noble. I think the NE Pats are the anti-Yankees, they are dominant for all the right reasons, teamwork, coaching, hard work.

And the Skins are the most valuable team in American sports, followed by the Cowboys. The Yanks are up there, but its a factor of them playing in the biggest market in the country. You have to respect the Twins who play in one of the smallest markets and have an entire team that costs less than 2-3 of the Yankees players.

That is just lame...for ANY team to win a championship...TEAMWORK is MUST.

Don't give me the Twins BS. They may be playing in a small market but there are ways to expand that market. Also the Twins owner is far more wealthy than Boss S. Even if he didn't want to use his own money...why don't you ask them what happened to their share of the luxury tax that was paid to them and how in the world did they turn a higher net profit than NY last yr.

smarter money management? they don't seem to have a problem winning on a smaller budget. maybe if steinbrenner got smarter and stopped throwing money away at washed up players the yanks wouldn't have to fix their leaky lineup/bullpen every year w/ millions of dollars. but of course, now they don't have a farm system because their organization has no idea how to build a team, only buy one.

I don't think high payroll means you are going to be profitable. I think we just overpaid for some of our players. Like Brown & Vasquez $25 Million combined! Profitability has to do with the demographics. NYC big city population and the businesses with the budget to buy season tickets for clients at what ever price.

I slightly disagree with this. They've consistently finished at the top of their division for how many years. Though I'm a Sox fan, you can't argue that that's money well spent. It guarantees you a spot in the post season every year.

Of course now to get to the WS, that's the next step. But that's a lot more difficult. There's too much luck. All the teams are generally very good. Just look at this past week between Boston/NY. One call, one swing, one anything could have entirely changed the series at multiple points in time.

Oh wait I guess the Reds are well run team...Larkin a 19 yr team player for the Reds..willing to play below market value...they released him AFTER the season was over with a phone call to his house. Not even giving him the respect he deserved from the fans to be able to cheer for him one last time.

If you gross 10 dollars and netted 7 dollars...its means you spend 3 dollars and pocketed the rest. Very smart money management...if you are owner.

Brown was traded for Weaver who couldn't handle the spotlight. Browns contract was given to him by the Dodgers not NY.
