Ya....I don't get it. They're walking out in some gay outfit waving.

Let me clear my Friday night.

Well, for those stuck in the 90s, they will tape. For the rest of us, we will DVR it

Got it on the DVR...that way I don't have to sit through all 3 hours of boring non-sense. Fast Forward FTW.

Out of the 3 hours there is probably a good 40 minutes of watchable stuff.

I figure about 10% of the events are actual sports. They are going to eliminate baseball from the Olympics next year. I was going to suggest golf would be a good fit as a replacement, but too many people consider it a sport.

Bring on the synchronized ribbon waving....

I Love the Olympics. Its just one more way for America to whoop peoples ass in stuff. I am just pretty patriotic but it comes from the Military so just about anything America is involved in im down for. I personally like the Javelin. It amazes me how they throw that thing so damn far. Go try and throw a broom it just doesnt happen

Hate to disappoint you, but they might have problems with the javelin getting stuck in the smog this year.

I was watching the opening ceremony on the CBC and during the parade of the athletes they kept showing the hottest chicks in every team. I kept a score. Guatemala had a great chick, but Jordan (of all teams) had the hottest girls actually. Their flagbearer was so hot.

I thought the opening ceremony was absolutely amazing.
The stuff they did was crazy.

I was actually surprised at the loud response the US was given

It seems like every country was cheered on.

There was weird stuff with Taiwan though: I think they were forced to have a different flag, and also from what I could tell they weren't announced. They marched in behind Japan but they weren't introduced on the intercom.

Let me tell you, speed walking is a LOT harder than it sounds.
When I was working out in the gym, rather than jog on a treadmill, I used to
speed walk because it was just a much tougher workout.

Try walking at 6 miles per hour sometime. And walking means at no point are both
feet ever off the ground. It's brutal. And the medalists walk at something close
to 10 MPH.

That was an awesome opening ceremony. The tai chi part was one of my favorites. The lighting of the torch was crazy! Good job China!
