Update on Switchblade Keys...
#281
Pete - got my key about 2 weeks ago, had it cut by a place called "Robins Lock" in Grand Rapids, MI. The guy there said that "this is the easiest cut we do," seems to me that anyone who knows how to cut a key should be able to make a copy with a statement like that. Then I took it to East Acura (East Imports) also in Grand Rapids, MI and they programed the key for $40. All totaled $137, which is about the price of a second fob that I was looking at buying...glad I didn't. The key looks and works great. Thanks again Pete. Oh by the way, the dealer said it looked amazing too.

DC area
FLBUSA, thanks for sending me the keys a month ago and they work!
In terms of the DC area, I had my keys done at Karen Radley Acura in Woodbridge, VA for $95. The $95 includes programming every key you have, so if you have one key, it's $95, or two it's $95 as well. I had my keys cut for free at a local locksmith, but he told me that he didn't have equipment to program Acura keys. The guys there were even nice enough to give me a loaner since I dropped it off there at 7 PM on a Thursday and picked it up the following day.
I also asked Rosenthal (Gaithersburg, MD) about their prices, and their service dept quoted about 105 including the cut.
----
I first took the keys over to Pohanka Acura (Chantilly, VA) to see what they would do, and the guys there said, "I won't deny that this won't work, but American Honda will void your warranty on your car for this and we can't cut your blank key because this key was a sidewinder that got shaped to the TSX shape, blah blah." I just left when I heard them and will never go to them again, not to mention that they quoted $97 per key including the cut to do the procedure.

I live in the DFW area, went up to Vandergriff Acura and they wanted $105 to get it cut and programmed. I thought that was pricey so I went over to Honda and they cut it for me for free, then sacrificed my valet key and switched the immobolizer chips with the TL key and it works perfectly.

Programming the key - San Jose, CA area
I just received my key from Pete this week. Has anyone in the Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA) gotten their key programmed? Is there any place you can recommend? I wanna get it programmed this weekend and not pay an arm and a leg. Thanks.

The only way for the dealer to replace your key is to refund you your $95.00 and then you can buy one from me.
I don't know if I'm understanding you correctly but just in case you don't know...
There's nothing cut or glued on my keys... I'm not taking some other key blank and melding it together with the switchblade to make it work.
I take a brand new 2007 switchblade key and machine away the metal to create a duplicate of the 04-06 key.
Hope that helps...
Sorry to hear the dealer screwed up your key.

For those in the DC/MD/VA area, this is for you:
Got my key cut at Glover Park Hardware on Wisconsin Ave. for $2.45. Took my key to Georgetown Locks (don't ask why I didn't just get it cut there) - they have an SSD or SDD or whatever and can program Acura keys, but doesn't have the V codes for the '07 TSX - was asking $100. Went to Chevy Chase Acura (where I bought my car) - they asked for $108. Said fine, just do it. They had an issue as well and was starting to think my relatively new car had an issue. After 3 1/2 hours they told me they couldn't do it b/c their computer software was not responding. Also starting to think the key might have an issue.
On a whim, searched for Acura Dealers through the Navi by distance to travel. Came up with Radley Acura on Columbia Pike in Falls Church. Long story short, $60.00 out the door, all keys including my new switchblade working perfectly. Ask for Matt.
$95 + $2.45 + $60 = $157.45
Well worth it. Thanks, Pete

Just for those who live around Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Corona in Southern California, make sure you visit Danny (Service Advisor) @ Weir Canyon Acura and tell him that Eugene referred me to you to get my key cut and reprogrammed, he'll cut (one 07 Switchblade Key), program (all keys and remotes) and wash you ride for $45, and you can wait for it. They have EXCEPTIONAL service and WORKMANSHIP. Go visit them. 714-777-3300 and ask for Danny at Acura Service. Make sure you mention Eugene and he will definitely charge you the same.

Yeah I tried both ways but no luck. I think the locksmith screwed up. This is my second purchase too because first Acura screwed up my first key so they refunded me the money and I bought a second one. Now that it is cut, it will open the door but not start the ignition. I think I am about to just give up on this.

Did you bring the template from FLB to your lock smith and/or Acura? When you complete the purchase there is a PDF that has a key diagram and indicates where to line up the current key and the blank to ensure proper cutting..
Let me ask a stupid question - does it TURN the ignition, but not start the car?
If it turns the cut is fine.. you just need to get the immobilizer chip programmed @ Acura..
