with the dice silverline.
you could have your ipod hooked up to your head unit. and use the head unit to control the ipod. and text (Off the ipod) will be read on the screen. and the ipod controls would be locked. [artist, title, album, etc]
or option b.
your could use the ipod controls and then CDC 1-XX would appear on the screen.
older model dice units along with 5th gen ipods and prior would be able to do both, have unlocked ipod controls and display text on the stereo..
there was an issue with the firmware/os build of 6th gen ipod classics +.

As another option the universal kit is available than it is going to provide the next best solution.

Yeah, my best answer to the question is...the pics are borrowed from DICE site. Sounds like your knowledge surpasses mine on the matter and unless you've heard some upgrade in the system it has not changed.
