Pensacola members?

This may belong in the Southeast forum, but I have the feeling that more people will see this thread here. Mods, you can move this if you feel you need to, but I'm mainly looking for 3rd gen TL peeps.

I searched for members from Pensacola, Fl and surprisingly found quite a few. If you have read my other threads you'll know that I'm currently on the lookout for a 3rd gen TL 6spd or a 06-08 TSX 6spd. Pensacola friends, if you see anything out there under 100,000 miles, let me know.

But also, I've seen a nice alabaster sliver TL-s in my neighborhood on Cummings Road that I'm wondering if he's on here. Would be really cool if so!

Let me know if you're from Pensacola, and where specifically!

I'm around Car City myself. What kind of TL are you looking for? If its a 6-speed, youre gonna have to travel to get one.

Yeah, actually I am looking for a 6 speed. I've been searching Craigslist for one also. I found one in Austin Texas that I almost hopped on a plane and bought, but then looked closer and noticed the dash was all cracked. I know it's a common problem, but I'd rather start with a clean dash.

I've also told frontier motors what I'm looking for, and they said they've come across a few. But no luck yet. There's a gorgeous TL-s at Kia autosport. But they're asking $23,900.

....then again I'm thinking about calling them and asking to take $2000 off the price to cover the cracked dash and see what they say. I've got a friend about an hour away from Austin who would check it out for me.

Lol buy mine. Then I'll go get a TSX.

If you see one in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast in the next couple weeks, I can check it out for you.

Haha, you really like the tsx better? I've been trying to decide between the two, and think I would like the TL better. Why do you pick the tsx?

What's your TL like? Miles, mods, color, etc. I haven't been able to find anything in your garage. I wouldn't mind checking it out sometime if it's under 100,000 miles.

I love the TL for the power, and it is my daily driver. I also like the TSX and it's a fun car to drive. For me, it's all about a good combination of power and gas mileage. A TL with intake, j-pipe will get you close to 30. In my old TSX, I could crack 32 easy with some mods. Both are cheap fixes and the TL is more plush.

I'm at 107k now and prob be around 113k after the next three weeks. I bought it wholesale so I've been replacing things as I go. Mostly cosmetic. Still need to replace the bumper and hood though. It's an 04 Anthracite 6MT.

Hmm, I'd really like something under 100k, but what would you want to get out of it? What do you mean by wholesale? Some parts in rough shape? (considering you are replacing bumper and hood).

Been trying to find some pics on the forums, but can only seem to find your TL-S...which looked pretty awesome

I have a thread I'll be updating shortly with all the new toys. Go look in the car talk section and you'll find it since I bumped it up today.

Yes, that TL-S was quite a machine. Had to go to Texas to get that one.

Sweet...couple of nice TLs there. I'm usually over in Jacksonville twice a year or so - I have family over that way. Right now I've got a deal going down on an 04 NBP TL in Greenville, SC. We'll see how it goes!

Good luck with that deal. Make sure the dash isn't cracking and also check on the transmission.

I already know the dash is cracked, but I figured with almost any TL I buy it would be inevitable. I'll probably eventually buy a Coverlay for it. I'm not a huge fan, but it's not too bad.

Tell me what you guys think: 04 TL, NBP, 80,000 miles, 6 speed, for $11,500? Does that sound pretty reasonable? Carfax is clean, no accidents or damage, one owner vehicle.

Thats really rich for a TL. 80K is pretty low for an 04. You cant go by book values (KBB or NADA) since they are lower than everyone's advertised prices on Autotrader or Cars.com. There are deals out there if you are patient. To me, this isnt one. Just my :twocent:

Wow, you really think it's that high? It's the best deal I've found in the 2 months that I've been looking. I don't really mind paying that as long as it's worth it. Most TL's are running 12-15,000 from what I've seen

Ah, yeah I can understand that...with what you told me you would sell your TL for, that is understandable. I was pretty surprised when you told me

As for records, no he doesn't have any. However it is being sold at an Acura dealer, and they have the paperwork of what they replaced when they got it.

^ Probably was caught off guard thinking it was high lol. These cars really hold their value.

Ah, its at a dealer. I was thinking it was private party. I would negotiate that they eat their dealer fee. Then I would consider $11500 to be tolerable. Make sure to check the all the fluids to see if they need changing and brake pads. Otherwise, you should be good to go.

Yeah, I would pay a good bit less if it were Private party, but I'm assuming the dealer has done a thorough job of going through the vehicle (although I'll certainly be thorough also). Dealer told me that guy who traded it in was pretty well-to-do, so he kept all information with his name on it. I wish there was a way to contact him. Maybe I can talk my Honda dealer into it once I buy it and have any recalls checked. Speaking of recalls, I checked the VIN and the P/S recall was already done, along with the wiper motor recall.

Apparently the man who traded it in, traded it along with an SL600 - all for a new Infiniti (or Acura - not sure which).

The dealer replaced both mirror actuators, battery/starter cable, wiper blades, driver door lock actuator, air filter, driver seat belt, drained and filled washer fluid, oil and filter change. They're going to fill the gas for me also.

As for the price, by the sounds of it the dealer fee is "just" $198. Everything else is the rip-off Florida taxes and fees. I've never bought a car from a dealer before, does this make sense:

$11,500 car price
$701.91 FL sales tax
$300 tag transfer
$198 DOT fee (dealer fee)
$150 interstate licensing fee
$75 escambia (FL) county fee

$12,925.41 total

I'm hoping to talk them down to $12.5k out the door...especially if I find anything else wrong with the car. I tried to use the cracked dash to talk them down some, but they don't budge much.

On the contrary, I thought it was very reasonable/low

I'm just tired of having to repair/catch up on issues with cars. I've had to do extensive work to both cars I have owned so far. I want something that is clean and solid from the get go.

^ LMAO then buy mine!

If you are buying the car from another state, they may or may not collect the taxes for FL. So, if you are financing with them, you need to make sure that they will collect them. If you are going with your own financing, make sure they cover those items.

Other than the Interstate fee, everything else is on-point. 198 for a doc fee is really low. In FL, its WAYYYYY more. Your tag transfer should be lower than 300.

^You're right. I actually just called the DMV to confirm those numbers, and they said a Tag fee of $300 must be a dealer fee because they don't charge that. Also the Interstate tag fee is a dealer fee. They told me the sales tax and the county tax are correct.

Interesting.

Sounds like I have some more bargaining to do with the dealer. Granted, he told me that the Doc. fee was the lowest in the area, but it sounds like they're tagging on some extra stuff.

I'll let ya know how it goes tomorrow. Thanks for the insight!

^ I had a deal like that before with going to a dealer. It wasn't a fun experience. Don't expect much sympathy on Azine on that issue. Sucks that you flew up there too. Yikes.

Lol yes, I saw that one about a month and a half ago. That price us pretty crazy though, and far out of my budget. I actually went to the dealership and sat in it, but that was about as far as it went. It would be an amazing car, but I am currently debt free and I really want to keep it that way.

Yeah, I'm alright here. Luckily my Prelude was on higher ground. The cars next door got a little bit of flooding though, and there were plenty of others in the area. I'm still trying to understand why people keep trying to drive through water when there are already cars drowned out sitting in the middle of the road.

But from what I understand, we did have a couple of deaths in the area. Also Scenic Highway washed out really bad - dropped out 40 ft. in one spot.
