Myrtle beach

Im driving there right now, never been there and it's a spontaneous thing. Will I regret this 11 hour drive? What's to do there? Anyone live around there?

Hate to say it but your going to be disappointed. Besides the beautiful weather Myrtle is just an Atlantic City of the south (w/o casinos). Besides walking the strip and tourist shopping there isn't much to do there. I live about 2hrs from Myrtle. If you want a place to vacation in SC on the ocean go to Charleston or Hilton Head.

Wait a min. How old are you? If you are in your 20s you will love Myrtle Beach. Alot more things to do but no casinos. you'll have fun. I went to Hilton Head once and I didn't like it. I hated that it was so dark at night.

Myrtle Beech is great for a weekend vacation (Sun and Ocean). If your staying longer then a few days Myrtle gets old fast. I will agree about Hilton Head. At night you can't find shit or see shit because they have like 5 street lamps in the whole city. Its gorgeous during the day tho. Charleston is by far the best ocean front city in SC. Lots of history, things to do, several beach choices.

The jersey shore has a longer broadwalk. Myrtle beach has shows, but it is a tourist trap. North myrtle beach has a better beach. We live less than 100 miles north. I am in Nj and will be driving back to nc tomorrow morning. Between the tolls and gas it cost me $250.00+ roundtrip (1,300 miles)

Seems like you will be doing the same Boring drive I am right now. The 70mph limits are awesome though considering most limits in NJ are now 55mph.

I am 25 so it should be good.

Having been to Myrtle as many times as I have the allure of "myrtle beach" has been stripped away.

25 and 1st time in Myrtle will prolly be a memorable trip. Enjoy the gorgeous weather we are having and have a safe trip.

I'm from Greenville, SC and I agree with everything Gryphen said. Myrtle is eh, if you are looking for a good time, Charleston FTW!

charleston is awesome and always a great time... if you're in myrtle go to Broadway. Its a strip of bars and nightclubs where all the colleges go to for a good time. i enjoyed both places!

For a state that gets no snow all of SC's roads are horrible.

It still has some nightlife attractions...Things to during the day? depends on what you like. broadway at the beach, huntington beach state park, brookegreen gardens, malls/outlets are some things local to the area.

We just got back from MB and the weather was nice. We took our 3 yr old to Ripley's aquarium at Broadway, layed out in the beach, and shopped all week. As others have said, Charleston is nice to visit.

PS. go to Myabi's while there (japanese food) and lots of other good places to eat too

They are Palmetto trees. There is a slight difference between them and palm trees.

I drove to North Myrtle Beach from St. Louis last September. 16 hour drive was unpleasant. It was a relaxing vacation but a hell of a drive. Didn't do much other than hang out on the beach.

Im from Hilton Head, but I spent a lot of time in Charleston- if youre vacationing in SC definitely pick Charleston over MB, actually Id rather go anywhere in SC than MB, that place blows ass. The only good thing there is the House of Blues when they have good concerts- Mastodon is playing there next weekend... Hilton Head is an old persons vacation spot, but since I had friends with boats I was all set in the summer. Its easy to pick up tourist chicks when you can invite em out on the river or ocean... I hope your trip was fun, and avoid those tourist trap shops at the promenade (especially Senor Frogs)

Yeah. My friend is a good dancer and was kicked out of some crap "club" because he was dancing and the guy thought he was trying to fight someone. We went to senior fogs after but there were a bunch of strippers and strange people there..Sugar daddies/babies and some weird people that said some weird things and I felt threatened. If it was in NJ, there would be a lot of fights the way people act down there..haha

OP, i just moved to NC from NJ (i'm 27) and honestly the best part of MB is being able to ride a motorcycle without a helmet... besides that its kinda just like the others... it looks like your already on the way, but if your really about partying and having a good time (single mid 20s), ocean city MD is the best beach i've ever been to... last time i went it was $2 to ride the bus up and down the strip all day and bars/clubs everywhere... Seacrets down there is supposed to be the top 5 or 10 clubs/bars on the east coast... if you havent been, its a must!! good luck and have a safe trip!!
