Installing a-spec in Raleigh, NC

Hey everyone, soon to be a 3g TL owner. 02 Maxima got totaled a couple of weeks ago and decided it was time to upgrade.

The first thing I'm gonna do when I get the car is add the a-spec body kit, suspension, and wheels. I'm gonna have the wheels and tires put in by my trusted discount tire store. But for the other two I called the only acura dealership I have in my area and they quoted me a little over $800 for installing both suspension and kit. A little over $300 for the suspension and a little over $400 for the kit

Does anyone know of a good trusted bodyshop in Raleigh that can do these two installs for a decent price? Or is there anyone on this board in the Raleigh area that is willing to help me install them for a fee of course?

I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and letting them do the suspension since it's an acura suspension and I'd like warranty that comes with them(If that makes any sense) But no way I'm shelling out over $400 for the body kit installation. Before someone says I should do it myself, well not only am I mechanically retarded, but I just don't have the time.

and about the wheels, I'm seeing them range from $800 to $1500 for OEM on ebay. Should I be worried about getting the cheapest ones I find? Is there any chance of them being knockoffs? I never heard of replica rims posing as OEM rims lol. But I guess anythings possible.

I am not a DIY genius so the suspension I cant help you with.

save yourself $400 and do the aspec kit yourself. I put on the front lip on my altima with another member on the forum in about 10 mins. I am sure the aspec kit isnt much more involved. If you want I can pay it forward and help you out one day, I'm in Raleigh too pm me if you want a hand.

also sorry to hear about the maxi. I used to have a 2000 maxima years ago... it didnt treat me very well though, but i still love them. got any pics of yours?

You get the suspension warranty no matter who installs it, as long as it's done correctly.

Look for an indie Honda/Acura shop if you won't DIY it. It's not to hard technically, but getting at the rears requires removing the seat, which is a PITA.

Book time is ~4 hours, I think. A good experienced tech should do it in around 3 - 3 1/2. Figure shop rates of, say $60 - $80 per hour (dealer is probably $100 - $110).

Acura just liquidated their stock of the A spec wheels. some of the wheels on ebay are OEM. There is also a Azine member selling them if that makes you more comfortable.

Sorry no pics of the max...yea my max wasn't too nice to me either but I still loved her. It was a one way relationship lol.

Thanks for your offer to help me install, I will take that into consideration when it comes closer to time.

bearcat94... at $80 for 4 hours that would come out to about $320, which is pretty close to what leith acura is charging me. I guess they gave me a fair price then. Thanks for the info about the warranty though thats helpful.

upnout...when you say some of them are oem, so does that mean there have been reports of wheels that are posing as oem, but turn out they aren't? Coming from the world of high end watches, I'm very weary of buying stuff claiming to be the real deal but set at a "too good to be true" low price. I may just take your suggestion and contact AckTL05 when it comes closer to time. At the moment any money I have is going towards the car so I won't bother him yet...

btw...ot question. How the hell do you quote multiple replies? as you can see from my post I can' figure it out. I click quote on one of the posts, and it takes me to a reply page where theres no quote button for the rest of the posts.

I had a quote form a local indie shop here for $240 (4 hours x $60 per hr). Edit: now that I think about it though, that was springs only, which acutally takes longer than pre-assembled coil-overs (like the A-Spec).

Next to the "QUOTE" button is anothe button for "multi-quote". For each post you want to quote hit the "multi-quote" button (it should get a little red "light" on it), EXCEPT for the last one. For the last one hit the regular "QUOTE" button. Then you'll have all the posts you "multi-quoted" and the last one that you "quoted".

Can't vouche for 'em one way or the other. Ended up doing it DIY. They did get a good word from one of local members who had his super charger installed there.
