I live in MD and car is registered in NC. My window tint is 30% and failed inspection. Don't want to pay 100 to take off. Do u guys know any inspection shop that can basically sign me off since I don't live in NC anyway?? Any other way around this crap?? Thanks

Why do you have to pay to take it off? Just do it yourself. If you live in MD, then get the car registered in MD.

Honestly noit sure hw this works because I've never ( ) had a failure, but you could be fuxored if your "fail" is already in the computer.

If it is and if I were an inspection station, I'd be reluctant to "sign off" on a car that just failed somewhere else.

No hook up here, sorry. Good luck.

Oh, and FYI (since I just updated this) : https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/legal-tint-limits-information-3g-garage-k-001-a-624038/

i live in NC i have 5% on the windows and 45% on the windshield. The thing is find someone how tints windows locally in MD. They ALWAYS point you to someone who will pass you on inspections. No matter who me and my friends get to tint our windows, we always ask "hey you someone that will pass this for me" 99% of the time they got a "buddy" somewhere that will inspect your car and pass it.

btw dunno about up there but, if you do find someone they may charge a little extra to pass your window tint....and like quake said you can take the tint off yourself, but be EXTREMELY careful washing the glue off your back window or you WILL scratch off the defroster lines on the glass. Had a dumbass friend of mine who used steel wool and warm soapy water to get the glue off. I recommend you going to a local shop who tints windows and asking them to peel off your tint....if that the route you decide to take.

you would only have to take it off the 2 front windows anyway right? Thats BS I cant believe they failed you for 30% when 35% is legal, that ridiculous

I dunno about the front windows, im actually trying to get into the police department down here in NC but according to NC law, UNLESS its a SUV ALL your windows must be 35%+. Only SUVs get away with having the windows back as dark as they want.

Last time I got my car inspected They said The car should not have the tint but, since I go there frequently he said he will let it go.
I have 15 or 20% on the back three no tint anywhere else.

you can pass as low as 32% in nc. But once you go to a shop and have them go thru the process i dont think you can go from shop to shop. you get thirty days by law to fix what failed you.

Don't mean to hijack, but any one know who is more "forgiving" with the tints around western Cary area?

You can go from shop to shop, but you will pay full price at each new shop you go to. If you go back to the shop you originally went to (with the items fixed within 30 days), it won't cost you anything.
