Possible new location for So Cal BBQ meets
ok guys i recently went to the last bbq meet, and to be honest, it wasn't all it could have been. whoever scouted the park. OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T
parking fee... boo! table location way too far from the vehicles, i don't know maybe it was the dog side of the park but........crap/shit all over the grass getting to table. then only one table.....no good! BBQ grill falling apart
, plus wayyy too small. i could go on and on.
the irvine park is cool, been there, nice place, nice grill. plenty of tables but no shade, and the cars are kinda far away.
i recently went on a jog at this park (HEART PARK on the border of Orange and Santa Ana)and thought "hey this would be a pretty cool spot for a meet" i went there today and took some shots for you guys to check out.
positives............
1. close to the 22 freeway (less than a block)
2. no parking fee
3. huge lot plenty of spots to park
4. lots of tables with shade
5. awesome grills (not falling apart)
6. picnic area close to the lot
negatives........NONE
on to the pics
one of the entrances

huge lot, this is just one side

shade and plenty of tables, with plenty of nice grills

the ride

this is just one part of the park, there are plenty more areas like this with tables and grills. VOICE YOUR OPINIONS GUYS

Just got back from checking this place out. If we have a meet here, it'll have to be during the week. Unfortunately, the place was PACKED today, so I'm assuming all weekends will be the same way.

shit if i have to i'll get some orange cones and some caution tape and block it off

i dunno about Acurafest....dude...there's like 100 people going it seems...100 people to drive to Fresno? middle of no where? it has to be one of the crappiest cities im sure. If Fresno was like Santa Barbara...i'd be down...Santa Barbara is a beautiful city....Fresno is....nothing.
Are you going to Acurafest ?

scott, there was another lot, past that bridge beyond the gravel river bed, just like the one in the pics only smaller with only one entrance. but still big enough for a meet, i'll check it out today, at like 12-1 pm and see how busy it is.

Then we'd be good to go for sure.
+1, i still hold a small gripe about the event. i was trying to plan it but someone took over... and i'm fine with that but the "voting" was biased to the fresno location. the majority of the posts STILL are from norcal members. just saying it makes sense. more norcal on the thread> more norcal votes.

Whether upcoming all-Cali event is going to be a big turn out or not, we still need to keep the spirit of the meet going this year so next year more people turn out for the event with awsome location.
We also need to find more 1st Gen CLs out there. Don't matter if its a Grandma driving, or a 16 year old who just got their license, anyone with a 1st Gen CL is more than welcome to the meet. Better to acquaint, that way we get more into the community, as well as to the forums...
...I was kinda being serious. LOL.
Anywho, I'd say we set up Meet Moderators if possible. People who are organize and know whats up with ground rules *cough*scottsr*cough* Know what I mean?
