New TL Owner from San Diego

Hey there, New to CA and just bought a 06 TL. I have a question about exhaust and the "smog" test. Whats the law about this? Can I put a full exhaust on my car or do I need to do a cat back setup?

Welcome! You'll have to smog your car next year, as it's required for your car every 5 years.

Regarding "full exhaust", what do you mean exactly? The "exhausts" available for our cars are the cat-back type.

By Full exhaust I mean J-Pipe and on....From my reading I thought the cat back was after the "cat" therefor a full exhaust would be j pipe to rear of car

You're correct. You can have a j-pipe and cat-back exhaust at the same time.

As long as you keep your cats in place you should not have any issues
