Any motorcycle riders in LA area? Need help buying a motorcycle.
I'm looking at an 07 Kawasaki Ninja 650R. I've been riding sporadically for two years, but this is my first bike purchase.
The bike only has 59 miles on it (yes, five-zero). Seller claims that it hasn't been ridden in 3 years, and after looking at the bike today, I believe him.
Aside from the battery dying, it ran well, but I wasn't able to do an in-depth check. Cosmetically in good condition as well. He only wants 3k, I know I can bring him down to 2,500.
Anyone know what I should be checking for and what might need replacing after all this time?
Does anyone know anyone in the area that would be willing to inspect the bike for me (I'll pay, of course)? I'm not as well-versed with bikes as I am with cars.

I saw the bike myself at the guys house. It's just been sitting in storage for three years, hasn't even been registered (he filed a non-op).
Tires will need replacing, I'm just worried about fluids degrading over time.

yeah, if the bikes been sitting over the years..
You'll definitely need to flush out the brake fluids and change the oil. New tires, and maybe check the fork seals, make sure its not leaking (it shouldn't if its been sitting) How well do you know the owner? Make sure all the electronics work, maybe get a moto tech to come w/ you.
Lube the chain also. Post some pics!

1. Take written test which is pretty hard. I had to cheat on mine.
2. Take the MSF Beginners Ridercourse ($150)
3. Once you take the course, they mail you a certificate that you can take to the DMV. Once the DMV sees it they'll approve you for a license.
If you don't want to take the course, you'll have to take the riding test at the DMV with your own bike.
I got pulled over the other day in Sherman Oaks for my windows. Showed the smug-ass cop my doctor's note and he only wrote me up for my front plate being on my dash.
What's the shop you know of?

Really easy. I got mine at 17 so I don't know how it is when you're 18 but this is how it goes:
