Never Lol

Casino was trying to charge a crap load

Bryan and I tried to tell everyone the park, I even offered to drive over 6 hours to plan it out. SOme people wanted the casino didn't care about the park. Bryan, some others and I said lets just do it at the park. Others still wanted the casino, Bryan and I sat back, the casino failed on us because they wanted to charge a shit ton of money. Now there is no idea wtf is going on. People PM'ed me saying I should have been involved in the planning and just had it at the park, some Pm'ed me bitching.

we can plan another afest. something low key with no sponsors and stuff like that. take it back to the type of meet that made it what it is now.

central coast would be ideal. im out here every week/every other week so i can scout more areas. theres a member in santa maria that is willing to help out too.

since the other thread got a bit out of hand, i closed it.

we can make another thread once things are more concrete (date/location)

i think we should try to settle on a date first so people at least have an idea what day(s) they need to request off from work.

the coast is pretty gloomy right now. its about 60 and foggy right now. it will start warming up next month. last year in Sept/Oct was hot.

Any date works for me.

I say mid-end october. Its later than the date that was submitted to the casino, and there were some people who couldnt get that weekend because it was so soon.

I say the later we do it, the more people will be able to attend

the point of Afest is to have everyone gather in one spot at one time.

The location noted is a bit south for the Norcal aziners.

it needs to be centralized. 04socal, i know you looked in Santa Barbra, is there another park other than the one you originally looked into?

im still thinking Central coast anywhere between Santa Barbra and possibly as far North as Monterey (just thinking aloud, there might not even be a spot out there )

Im still liking the Pismo/SLO/5-Cities area

^^^^M an I know what your saying, it's just tough trying to find a neutral location. I mean Fresno is as close as it gets, but I feel like it's just really empty and if it's at a park there's nothing else to do.
I feel like either way one region is gonna have to drive further than the other.

the Pismo/slo area: there is a part of the beach where you can drive onto it, i think it would allow good photo ops.

i drove my MS3 out there and it did perfectly fine.

there are lots of local breweries out here. lots of pubs/good food.

there might be some decent sized places in Morro Bay and Avilia Beach, whether or not they will allow us to have an event there or not is unknown. i will look into it when i get the time.

i wont be back to the coast until the weekend after next. im not sure if i will be free to scout areas since i will be celebrating my bday but ill see what i can do.

From what I can remember, socal has always driven up the most in terms of distance.

SIGH.... Casino is going through some things. I kinda lost interest cuz they never got back to me on a timely manner, and when they did, it was a bad deal. Plus the whining few who kept bitching about "If I was in charge I could do it better" hella turned me off. I waited to see if anybody would take charge & actually do something. So far not much has been done.

Im just not willing to put my ass on the line on such short notice... so here is my last suggestion, and ill leave it to you guys to make the decision. If it doesn't work out, no harm done.

As a few of you know ACURAFEST takes a whole lot of planning (months) & $$$ ($5k+). Thats why we opt for sponsors & sell shirts & stuff. Most of the time we end up putting in way more than we get back. (As ATLP Mike knows)

But, I found some one who is willing to take a chance on us in Pismo... yes I pulled off a good location about 1/2 a mile from the pier, food, bars etc. And yes it has beach access, and plenty of parking. And I didn't even have to drive to Pismo to find it.

But it has to be grass roots style.
Cost for the parking lot is $250 and we can do with it, what we like.

We have to have a committed 50 car minimum at $5 a piece to make this happen.
And not just, "put my name on the list & ill see if I show up to pay" I need something concrete, like prepayed-paypal etc.

Im trying to figure out how else to do it so everyone gets something back in return. Maybe pre-sale the shirts to make up the $250, but I would we would need to pre-sell 50+ shirts, that you would buy in advance & pick up at the meet.

Good thing about PISMO, is that the average temp year around is 72degrees, so even a november meet might be good.

That's why your the man. I think that is very reasonable and a very good idea, if people are staying the night they can figure that out on their own, that way you don't have to be involved.
So far this is the best idea and I push towards it. I'm sure most people would be ok with the price.

I agree with Roger, i do suggest that u do the presales not only to the Cali people but the whole forum itself, try and get permission from Ron A? Pismo sounds great, just curious if it's $5 and then additional money for parking?

I was willing to take time out of my free weekends with my fiancee to scout areas and get in contact with people if needed.
Arrroyo Grande is still an option and i should be expecting a call this week. ( i linked the location in the locked thread) if you guys like it, let me know. If not then theres other areas

I never said i can do it better than anyone else here.

I have a few places in mind still. But i think we need to agree on a date before a location.

No, for the $250 the parking lot is ours for the day. No extra parking fees.
Im guessing we will be on our own for the food, unless you guys wana do a beach BBQ Potluck thing? Or maybe just chill at one of the food/bar hangouts in PISMO.

If ya think about it, you would have to pay extra $$ just to park in PISMO. So our meet would be walking distance & we wouldn't have to worry bout finding parking.

And no Kev, I didnt say people would do it better than "me"... its been a team effort since the get-go, So it was frustrating to hear others suggest new ideas that they think would be better "as a whole" without willing to put in the work.

And to Bry, the location has some blocked out dates, Ill post them as soon as I get back to my office.

Yea no Roger I appreciate everything your doing. I was even going to come out from Sac and drive to SoCal to help. It was frustrating not knowing anything. Plus someone Pm'ed a mod, not going to say any names but I know who you are, and started talkin shit to the mod about me and Bryan. That person should have pm'ed us directly if they had a problem, and to this day, (you kno who you are PM me instead of crying to a mod)

I like your ideas rodger if you need someone to help front the cost hit me up i can pay pal you some $ to get this going and we can figure it out later i think pismo is a good local i know not everyone likes driving all over the place but no single spot is going to make everyone happy it is what it is.

let us know the dates available i know i can get my crew to cruise up even though they are not acuras they are always down for a fun cruise/carvan to a meet spot
