2004 Acura TL will not start

Hi Guys,

Hopefully you guys have some tips for me.

After my car didnt turn over, i went to Autozone to get a new battery, put it in and the car started right up. The next morning i get in the car and turn the key and get nothing.

I tried jump starting the car and after hitting the starter a few times it started up, so i thought it was a starter issue.

I took out the starter and battery and had autozone test both and they both passed. Even though autozone passed the starter, could it still be bad?

Could it be a fuse or some relay that i need to check? I have already cleaned the battery terminals and tighten them up.

Thanks for the help!

My experience with a dying starter was that the car will crank slower. With a dead battery, I believe you will here a clicking noise. With a dead or dying starter, turning the key will pretty much do nothing. When mine finally completely died on my old car, turning the key did absolutely nothing, no noise, even though the battery was good.

My car didn't start this morning, but it was cranking and making a clicking noise. Gonna get the battery looked at after work today.

I replaced my starter solenoid and the starter motor carbon brushes to be safe. Just take the starter apart and clean all the carbon dust with electronic contact cleaner or brake cleaner.
Seems to be the starter solenoid that was worn out in my case. The solenoid is a sealed unit and should not be taken apart.

Search ebay for "starter solenoid acura TL" for the solenoid. It should be around $22-$29
Also search for "starter brush repair kit acura TL". Look for the one with a tail like my picture below and should cost around $15. It won't have to look exactly like the original but just have the tail.
It could look like a

Good luck!
