Tire option for 18x9.5 all around!
So I have 18x9.5 all around...I was wondering what tire set up I could use without any rubbing! Stock suspension for now! 2007 Acura TL

Depends on your offset.
255/40/18 was my choice with 18 x 9.5 +40 for a super smooth ride, and no rubbing. Looks about as fantastic as you can get with the stock suspension IMO (takes up a little bit of wheel gap).

+30 is way to aggressive for a 9.5" wheel and stock suspension. If you had the 255/40 I mentioned you'd poke 15mm in front, and 10mm in rear. Mexican style. lol
This means that you need to take 15mm away from your tires, so you need a 235 to not poke, which is quite a stretch on a 9.5" wheel.

What is something that makes sense? I can roll some fender if needed but want to keep everything else fairly stock..

i dont know why people keep saying 9.5 with +30 offset has alot of poke.. im running 18x9.5 +30 with 235/40/18 tires square stance all around dropped on Tein S Techs
No fender work required and no rubbing... tried to make it rub by having 5 people in the car and took aggressive turns but it turns out the TL can handle these wheel specs and drop just fine.. its a very minimal stretch for 235s on a 9.5" and you can see visually in the first picture the stretch is very mild... 225 however on 9.5" will be a a pretty aggressive stretch
theres almost no poke, as far as i can see.. imo it sits almost flush with the fenders in the front
I can tell you running 245s would absoluetly rub on my setup... you could probably pull off 245s on stock height, the suspension shouldnt compress far enough to the point where the tire and fender meets when your riding that high.. unless you hit a speed bump or pothole at a high rate of speed

Dang! You got yourself a sweet set up! Yeah I'm going to the shop today to look at some options and mount up my new wheels and see how they do. I'm really wanting to do 245/40 all around but I might just have to go for the 235 as that makes the most sense. Do you rub anywhere with your set up? Even on some pot holes or anything?

i can imagine the rears would rub.. but that situation would be extremely rare
235s would be the safe bet but it also depends on your style and what you like

thanks man but yeah i dont rub at ALL, like i said i tried to make the car rub but it just wouldnt no matter how much stress i put on the suspension... MAYBE if i have a hundred pounds of gear in the trunk plus 5 people

I do like to go fast sometimes but I'm a careful driver so I try to avoid the pot holes and such. Obviously their won't be any off roaring and for the now the suspension will stay stock...I do end up giving people rides pretty often so I don't not want to rub and do not want to fender roll...and I want more pics of your tire set up! From the side and some angles!

just remember that every single car is different. just because one user doesn't rub doesn't mean you won't. i did the same thing when i first started researching stance and wheels, and i got the same exact setup as someone else and mine rubbed and he didn't. just keep that in mind, it's not going to be exactly like anyone else's setup.
the setup up above looks to have some poke. my last setup had the same outside position (mine was 8.75 +20...which is pretty much the same as 9.5 +30) as shown above and there was for sure poke. my setup now is what i consider flush and it's 9 +32.

At the moment I have ESR SR05 18x9.5 +35 sitting in boxes...just looking for some opinions and if people are running similar set ups

This is a helpful thread! I just ordered some new Miro 111 wheels for my 07 TL-TypeS. The specs are 18 x 8.5 with a +35 offset. Just to be clear, I can run a 245/40r-18 with no rubbing issues?Or even a 45? Keeping it at stock height for now as well.

more often than not, 18x8.5 +35 will NOT clear brembos, which you have on your car

Oh man! ..... For real? I'm new to this, but you would think that if the factory +40's clear that a lower offset would easily clear. I am familiar with offsets as I have done aftermarket wheels on my F-150. It comes with a +44 offset and I put a -13 wheel and it sticks way out farther and gives more clearance of UCA's and brakes. Is it not the same with cars? The closer you got to 0 , the farther ir sticks out or pokes. Thats why I assumed it would clear! What offset will clear then? or I guess I will have to go spacers (which I'm not a fan of) or different brake pkg that clears!
But aren't others on this thread running a +35 without issues. I based my decision on those previous posts on this thread. Sorry for a little bit of a hijack on this one Davidpitsul!

wait until the wheels come in and then decide if you need spacers and if so, how thick. i hate going spacers and will never run them on my car, but that choice is up to you, many people use spacers but none of the big box stores around here will touch your tires/wheels if they see spacers.
to change your brake package is a VERY big job and will be costly and to put it lightly...dumb haha. people would love to have brembo brakes

it is very hard to find the wheels that give a functional stance and clear brembos. the offsets play a weird game with our brakes. the rule of thumb (most of the time) is that +32 and lower (+20, +22, etc) clear the brembos. there are very few 18x8.5 +35 that clear the brakes. the ones i know are enkei raijin and some of the vmr wheels. the guys above were mostly referring to wheels that clear the non brembo brakes which are found on 2004-2006 automatics and non type s 07-08. i spent about 3 months researching before buying my sets of wheels each time i changed.

Great info! Can't thank you enough !! Thank you!
I just ordered them today, so first thing tomorrow I will be changing my order!! I really do not want to run spacers!

My next option is to go with the 19 x 8.5 with a +15 offset. Still want to run a 245 tire. I do not want a stretched tire . In fact,I would rather one that has some rim protectors .
Thoughts?

With those wheels specs you would need a 225/40 tire more than that and you might rub or hit the fender. Your wheels would have major poke too (stick out past fender)

I'm currently running v710 18×9.5 +33 with a 245/40 tire but even with rolled fenders and shaved down bumper tab I rub occasionally but nothing crazy only on really big dips in the road

I think you should make the switch lol, but maybe pick up the v710 ff since the v710 are heavier than your wheels

i was asking about the specs because i currently have less aggressive specs (18x9 +32) and run 235/40 tires but i would love to run 245/40 tires next time and was seeing if i have more natural camber in front. i think i'm about -1.7 or so in the front so i should be ok with 245/40...even though i have to wait about 2 years for my current tires to need replacement haha
and i can't get the v710ff, they only come in matte graphite and i'm not a fan of dark wheels on white cars. i'd only get hyper silver and it's not offered! oh and it only comes in 19 and i wont' run 19s on my car haha

No one can tell you because it's all about the wheel design, you'll have to put them on and see. In theory the sizes will work, but you need to check the brake clearance. You also need to get a life and choose something bigger than a 225!

What give you the need to think telling anyone to get a life for asking a question that are related to the atmosphere of this forum is something acceptable?
I appreciate the assumption of your beginning statement but I don't come on here for some wise ass remarks. If there is a problem with 225 why not state the reasons why?
