Smile 20 inch rims on 3G TL

Hello acuraziners,

I have an 05 acura tl and was thinking of putting 20 inch wheels on it. Wheel size is 20" width is 8.5 and wheel offset is high. what tire size would make my car look the beefiest
235/45R20 , 245/45/20 or is there another tire size which would work better

again I am new to this forum so correct me if im posting in the wrong section but I am about to order tires and do not want to make a mistake with the rims looking awkward on my car. Rubbing is not an issue as I will get my fenders rolled if needed!

Welcome!!!...Been honest, 20" wheels will look kinda big for the TL(3rd gen), 18 or 19s will look better bro, but is just me my , is your car...

obviously 245/45/20 is beefier than 235/45/20 but I kinda doubt either will fit

Go with 19" at the most. 20" is just too big for the TL IMO.

20's are a bit too big IMO. I've seen it done before but with heavy modifications to the fenders and having bags. 19's or 18's look best IMHO. Honestly I prefer 18" with a 40 series tire.

I think you are seeing a trend in responses in that 20s are too big. FWIW, my summer set up is 18 x 8.5 wearing 255/40 rubber.

At the end of the day it's your car and you can do what you want to it.

Yeah, you would need to run a super thin sidewall. Like one of the guys above said, 30 series. 45 would be way too thick of a side wall. And I'm with the rest. 18s or 19s max.

What he said

I chose 18's cause the tire options are endless and usually at a better price than 19's..

18's or 19's are best-you won't like the 20's. Welcome to the site, OverLimit.

19"s are definitely the way to go. You can fit a 35 series sidewall for a more forgiving ride

Do post pics, iv never seen a donk TL. And yeah, why are you running narrower then stock wheels?

To the op, 20s look reduclious on these cars imo. 19"isnt too bad. 18' is perfect.

OP as you can see most people on here do not like 20s. It can be done on the TL and still look good. You put 20s on stock suspension and it will look like crap. The key is lowering it and choosing the right wheel and tire specs.

Mine for example:
Front: 20x8.5 +35 on 235/35
Rear: 20x9.5 +40 on 245/35
Suspension: Tein SA

I could easily daily this set up without having to worry about what route, hills, and speed bumps to avoid. The whole reason why I went with 20s. Roll the fenders and you're good to go.

I have a set of 20s with 245/35/20 tires with a high offset but 7.5" that i use to have in my 300M.. I have stock springs though... I went to a shop to throw them on for me but they refused. They said the ratio was like 7.3% but they were only allowed to go up to 4%... Whatever that means..

Since then, i haven't tried to put them on because I wasn't sure how it would pan out. I know i could go with a smaller tire but in parts of my city, pot holes be taking up more lanes than cars.

Any one else still pushing 20s?

I just bought an 05 tl and I'm wanting to lower it on some 20" vossen cv3s but I don't know the offset needed. I don't know where to start to lower it, nor do I know the profile of tire I need. I want it the same as this one. Any advice will help. Thanks!
