A/C Repair Invoices - Post them up

If you all still have your invoices, please scan, chop off your name and any identifying information specific to you, and then post it up here. If you want me to post it up for you, I have a flickr account and will gladly do that. My A/C hasn't failed yet and I rarely use it anyway, but let's stockpile the ammunition we need to get this stuff recalled.

Is this for "the big repair" or do you want little things like relays, too?

Do you also want invoices covered under warranty? I would think even if No Charge, there is the "paper trail" of the problems.

I don't have a flickr account. But, I'll e-mail the file to you if you PM me an address.

I would suggest that regardless of who paid for the repair (the owner, the dealer, or Acura Corporation), the invoices detailing the parts and labor will establish a pattern. Ensure your VINs or your model years are showing. Post 'em!

When I took it to the dealer. The mechanic heard compression noises but was unable to duplicate the problem. He did diagnostic for 1 hr and the problem went away. He said if the problem comes back, contact him and ask for him because he actually heard the AC struggling. So far, so good. If it fails I will post my invoice.

Either... I want to give everyone the evidence there is an issue and Acura Service can't say, "We have no evidence of this"

Yes, warranty covered it definitely wanted to.

Ok, I scanned the invoice and saved it in a Word file. How do I post it up since it's not a jpeg?

If you don't have an image account, just send it to me and I'll put it in my flickr account.

I'll scan mine in when I get home. My car was serviced twice before they finally did the "big repair"...one was a shrader valve replacement and the other was the typical compressor relay replacement...do you want all 3 or just the big one?

I think not using the A/C is the only preventative maintenance. I never use mine, even in the 80-90F weather we are having here in OH. Only used it 1 day when I had to transport the kids and wife.

All I had to pay for was the A/C belt and some temp sensor (extended service contract didn't cover them)...$100.38. I wish I didn't have to pay for that, but what am I gonna do? If this becomes something that is recalled, maybe I'll get it back?

I can host pics as well, PM me if you need an assist hosting them, as well as blanking your name and address.

I'd suggest leaving the first 12 digits of the VIN up, as they indicate conclusively the make, model, year and assembly plant of the car. I think it would be pretty illustrative to be able to show several repair invoices for the same problem, for VINs that all came from a single plant, in the 2004 model year. ... Just an idea.

It's a pretty sad statement when you spend almost $30K on a car and you are afraid to use the A/C for fear of it exploding!

It's more like "You have no choice, but to pay this amount". During that time, Acura Client Services helped me out, and they gave me a refund which I was glad to get (parts, but not labor).

Wow!!! 4g!!! for the AC. I have 140,000+ miles in my car. Should I get rid of my car instead of paying 4g to repair the AC (or anything big)?

Oh, I'm not afraid to use it at all... I just perfer the open air... well, if you want to call what I breathe in traffic here in Ohio as being air. Definitely not afraid though. If anything, I hate the drag it puts on the motor. With all my mods, it is more obvious.

Here is my invoice:

I had them do an oil change and tire rotation/balance at the same time in the hope that would somehow help with assitance. I was only able to get them to cover 25% of the bill.

The total for the AC repair came to $879.59 + tax ($61.57) = $941.16

That implies a pre-contribution cost of $1,254.88

Here's a second one from me. This time, they only replaced the compressor instead of the entire system. Woot! Compressor #3!

I thought that I should point out the mileage when the entire system was replaced and when I needed yet ANOTHER A/C compressor.

The entire system was replaced at 90,575 miles
The new compressor failed and was replaced at 90,990 miles.
Replacement compressor #1 lasted a whole 415 miles.

I hope it was a fluke!

Keep at it and make sure Honda acknowledges it as a problem. It's sad to see this, with our 95, 99 Accord and the 95 Integra I sold, had their original compressors still in them without any issues; knock on wood.

Show them this thread as well as the '04 Air Conditioner Broken thread and see if they'll work with you and/or Acura to cover any of the cost. If the dealership isn't willing to budge, you can always call Acura themselves and direct them to these threads (I know others have).

shakfu3 posted the name and number of somebody he talked to at Acura. I think you should give them a call, too. If we all call the same guy maybe they'll start to realize that this is a big problem?

Here's the info again just in case it's hard to find:

Acura
800-382-2238
Leon Jones, case manager, eXt: 115004

As always, results are mixed. Good luck!!

Just a reminder, this thread is primarily to post up your A/C invoices. We have a thread for discussion about the issue. No harm done, just a friendly reminder.

Having the same issue

Someone over on the Problems & Fixes thread suggested I bring copies of others' invoices to bolster the claim that there's a bigger problem here. However, not everyone's posted invoice is showing up (most are the broken image icon, red "x" in square). Is anyone else having this issue? I'm on my work laptop which has some weird policies...thanks!
PS - I'll post mine as soon as I'm able to.
