The easiest possible way to do this!! and only 7.99 or free!

Step one (if needed) : Go to radio shack and purchase a replacement power cord (the one with the led and fuse they come in handy).



Step two : take apart the 12v / lighter plug. just break it open and pull out the wires and the led. and you dont need and the other little parts in there.
You can trash everything in this pic you dont need them there useless for this job.



Step three : Now that you have the led removed


This is your new tool just insert it into the plug you wish to use and try diffrent combos to see witch one makes it light up and those are your positve and negitve!



Step four or one if you did not buy the cord : now you take the wires that you pulled out of the plug




take the wires and push them into the correct places take electrical tape and wrap all the wires together so they dont slide out and you are done thats it

YES it is that easy for anyone !!!

Sorry bout the order of it i did not expect to do a write up so i just took some pics for personal ref. so sorry about that


i tapped into the auto dim morror bro i did not feel like cutting wires and things so i just pushed them into the clip on the that goes to the mirror. i have a cobra radar dector so i didnt have many options as to where to wire it

 

The best and easiest way is to take the wires and attach them to the back side of the drivers side fuse panel. There is a spot for a female spade connector to plug into it. you have your choice of constant and switched.

 

to get a wire to the drivers side fuse pannel you have to pull of the pillar and run a cord all the way down i agree that is easy and a good way but i just saw alot of people talking about wiring it into the auto dim mirror so i did it

And thats so hard why? the panel just pulls off. It takes more time to get to the wires for the auto dim than to run it above the headliner and down the pillar to the fuse panel

im very good with cars taking cars apart working on engines and fixing them up but i hate electonics (dont noe why) i also have a cobra too so were is a good place to tap it in im not lazy i will take off panels that dont bother me.

 

This is the back side of the drivers side fuse panel. The on circled in red is used for any thing you want turned on with the lights (like fogs) the other 4 are (2) switched and (2) constant power. I dont remember which is which but it would be very easy to figure out



Use these to attach the positive wire to the fuse panel



And if you want you can use this as a ground (or any where else thats metal with a screw...there is a grounding point somewhere on the A pillar down there)

 

nice.. i had my old fog lights on my old accord wired to one of those terminals.. i was hoping that this car had them also but didnt see them.. didnt know there was a backside to that fusebox..

Im not very knowlegdable about this subject. But wouldnt you want to run it to the switched? So when you turn the car on the units come on. Otherwise wouldn't they be on all the time?

 

Sorry guys, I'm not saying anyone is wrong, but here's my preffered method.

I found the easiest (safest) way was to buy a "mini add-a-fuse" from autozone (roughly $7). Plugs into a fuse slot so you can retain the fuse that is in there and gives you an added fused output with a power lead already on it. Cut the cord from your radar detector and hook the ground to that spot pictured in the previous post, and the other wire to your "mini add-a-fuse". Done.
