my TL is now totaled!!! (i hate drunk drivers)

hey guys on tuesday night i was heading off to work, i got to the first light it turned green i hit the gas the a fucken dunk asshole hit me!!!! straight both doors drivers side. dick was in a ford ranger going 45-50 mph blew right through the red!! i was trapped in pain and couldn't get out, the paramedics pulled me out. i spent three nights in the hospital my injuries were two broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. could have been worse, thank you acura!!! for all the safety features this car has those side curtain bags really do work. paramedics and doctors all said i was very lucky. they see stuff like this all the time and were surprised at the extent of my injuries. the drunk was not insured, lucky for me my insurance policy covers me $250,000-$500,00 for uninsured motorist, so i'll be getting compensated nicely$$$

i went to the inpound lot were the car is and snapped some pics check it out.

this is what the ride looked like before

this is it now!

my driver seat got a little tight!!!

air bags to the rescue!!

just some tears mixed with blood!!

Drunk drivers really do suck! I am very happy to see that you are OK from this ordeal, The TL can be easily replaced, but lives can not. 4 more days until the 1 year anniversary of when my family was struck by a drunk in our Odyssey. everyone walked away from that one too, but the kids are still leary about driving at that time of the evening.

I think I remember your ride from the So Cal meet when we B-B-Q'd in the park and then drove down to the beach a few months back.
Looks like you had it modded just the way you wanted it too....that sucks!

I was stunned reading that and looking at those pictures. Very glad you are OK. Hope you recover quickly.

I take it that is you in the pic looking at the car with your hospital band on your wrist? Very nice, like a reflection back on the accident... Acura should turn your story into a commercial.

Did you pass out or anything after you got hit? Do you know what the drunk did after he hit you? try to run?, call for help? You planning on sewing?

Holey cow! Sorry to hear about it man!

Its good to hear that you made out of there alright.

I know you took a lot of care in your car and invested a lot of goodies into it. Your car was definitely one of the best modded TLs I've seen.

The good news is that a lot of the parts can be stripped and moved over to the new TL.

Good luck with everything man! Best wishes to a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing your next creation!

Wow, that looks like a really bad hit. Glad you are ok and it definitely looks like the airbags did their job.

The drunk needs to spend some time in jail.

Glad you're OK, jptl04.

Now what you need is a top notch lawyer to take that motherfucker to the cleaners.
Whomever that uninsured dirtbag is, he deserves to to loose EVERYTHING.

In my case, I'd be sending Paulie and Christopher ova dare ta visit him!

That was a beautiful ride (I also have Anthracite). You're right, though, the car did it's job protecting you. I can still see how you would have been injured as there's a lot of intrusion on the driver's side (many cars with this much damage may have killed the driver). How fast was that jackass going when he hit you (estimated)? I hope they let him cool in jail for a while, but DWI jail time is usually pretty short unless someone is killed.

I hope you feel better soon. The car can always be replaced, no matter how nice it is.
I'm usually not sue happy, but this guy deserves it.

Best of Luck to you.

Apologies for not a more careful read of the first post (I see now he was doing 45-50 mph). I also re-read that he had no insurance, so hopefully he'll get more seriously f**ked in the legal system!

I'm glad to hear you got through this with no major injuries. Sorry to see your TL like that. You had lots of mods on it and it looked really great. I hope you are compensated well by the insurance co. Good luck and a speedy recovery.

That was one of the first crash pictures I've looked at and actually said, "how is this guy posting" instead of "ahhh. poor tl." That HAD to have hurt. Good thing for side/curtain headlights. Oh well, time for a type-S?

shit, i can't believe your car is gone man that sucks...fucken drunks, they are just idiots and a bunch of scum....good thing u got out of it ok it looks really bad....honda is all about safety so that's good but at the end some shit happens so fast that it don't matter in what car you are, that's why credit goes to god, and ofcourese to acura as well. Sad how some nice cars never live to be a beater at 200,000 + miles 15 years from now....

Now it's time for TL-S? Those are just too baaad, u might as well get a acura jacket and some black gloves while driving one of those....

Thumbs up That Sucks....

First, glad that you are OK. Injuries could've been worse even though I'm sure it hurt like hell with what you did ended up with. I'm surprised they didn't use the jaws of life to get you out. Where the heck did they pull you out of? Did they slide you out through the wrecked door ala Bo and Luke Duke?

When I saw that it was your ride I was like damn. I remember seeing lots of posts of the work you did on your TL and it was a sweet ride. But as they say it's all materialistic stuff and you can replace it. It does suck though and I know the feeling of putting work and hard earned money into a vehicle only to have it go to waste.

Best of luck on your recovery. The good thing is that you should get most if not all of the money you put into your TL back. Only bright side, what do you buy next?

Whhhoooaaaa!!! Daaayyyuuumm! That made me feel my ribs to check if "I" was alright! Like everyone else is saying - GLAD YOU LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT!!! As for the car, I'm happy as hell I have a TL! (maybe I should have splurged and bought my daughter one - these things are a beast in an accident!) Her 07 Mazda3 is supposed to be a cage, too, though.

I wonder what I would do nowww....OH! I know, take that incoming dough that the dumb-ass "incoming driver" is going to hook you up with, and get some new TL mods!! You can buy a new one, make it faster, more mods than ever before and reclaim your title as a bad-mutha-shut-your-mouth on the 'ZINE!!!

Good luck dealing with the flashbacks, and God keep you!

holy $***!!! Atleast youre ok man....this is why I hate drunk drivers too, I rather have them really really drunk that they cant walk out of the place they were from, that way they cant walk and get out of the place and drive. Your TL was one of the TL's Ive been checking out again and again and again....it was nicely and simply done!

thanks eveybody for all your support, it really makes me feel like this is more than a forum, and more like a family thanks again, much appreciated!!!

after my lawyer read my insurance policy he was shocked to see that i had such high coverage for unisured motorist $250,000-500,000, he said most people have $15k-$35k, he smiled and said "thats the best thing you could have done." driving here in so cal i know there's alot of dumbshits driving w/out insurance, so i just wanted to protect myself.

i will be getting another TL. "I LOVED THAT CAR!" it was my baby. even in pain and trapped in my car just moments after the accident i still remember me shouting "great......you f--ked up my car you asshole!!!"

Sometimes that's exactly what you need to keep going at a moment like that!

You're doing so great in a sh*tty situation ... good for you, man. Keep your good attitude, it will go a long way towards getting you through this.

I am amazed how messed up the car was and how relatively minor your injuries were (I see a car like that and I expect the driver to be dead at the scene). I want to go out to the driveway and give my car a big hug.

Hang in there guy, I'm really impressed by you as a human being. Keep it up and take care of yourself.

ass for all the extra stuff i put into my ride ,we'll see what my insurance says about what i can and cant take off. i mentioned something to them about my wheels, they said no you cant take the wheels i was like then you're ganna pay me for them $800 a pop i wanted to save the two that were spared on the passenger side. but my lawyer said don't argue w/ them let me take care of that, just give me a list of everything you put on your car i'll handle it. good thing i stll have receipts for alot of that stuff.
